Thread: Stun Comp Question

I would like to agree and to disagree on this point. From a PVPers perspective (who else wants Stun Armor?) there are 2 nasty weapons that do Stun Dmg: Ion Rifle and the Genosian Sonic Blaster. You may also run into a Stun Baton or a Tangle Pistol. On Valcyn you don't see the Tangle at all, and the Stun Baton is hardly common. Ion Rifles on the other hand are extremely common as are those pesky Pistoleer/ Smugglers with that Sonic Blaster.
I would agree on the Helm that you are going to want as high a Stun rating as possible. The Ion Rifle has armor penetration so you are going to want a high resist.
The Chestplate, however, is a different story. I would probably triple layer it with Stun Layers, but leave it at 6 or 10% resist. Then go for the base. Here is why: The Sonic Blaster has an AP of 0, therefore with you comp coming in at light armor you are automatically getting 50% resist because of the AP difference. Of course if you see a lot of Fencers this might change, but I think a layer comp with low Stun resist plus a PSG is your best bet against those sonic blasters. (lets not go into the PSG complaints...)
I was thinking exactly along these lines, but I was not thinking to treat the Helm any different than the Chestplate, but it makes perfect sense.
Since I have so little Vertex and it has not spawned in awhile I can really only make one schematic. I guess my best bet is to go all out stun% then, and then either make 4-5 helms or 2 helms and 2 chestplates.
I am leaning towards just helms. If one of the major reasons people want stun composite is the Ion Rifles, then I have to think the Helm is the most important (as it would normally be anyway) piece.
My only fear was, sliceable or not, a really low base would leave a PvPer vulnerable to everything else. Well vulnerable is a poor choice of words obviously they will still get protection, but if a hardcore PvPer usually gets great base armor and a good effective slice for 85%+ protection and I make some nice stun% helms with a really crappy base (low 50s I am guessing maybe mid 50s?) even a good slice will only take it so high. So the buyer would survive the rifleman but get whacked by everyone else.
Guys thank you for the advice I am going to use it!
