Thread: AP3 vs special protection.
you have APR1, T21 has APR3, so T21 does 25% of 25% of 25% of regular damage, and if I understand correctly special protection means take away say 70-80% of the damage, what ever special protection equates to, resists would be like 90% resists, add 10% of damage taken from the ARP1.......
at least I think thats how it all works, I know the 25% thing is true.....
T21 = AP3, say 100 damage
Compo =AR1 +50% resist
Damage = 100 * 1.25 * 1.25 * 0.5 = 78.125
Every number of AP higher than your AR will multiply the damage by 1.25. Since AP3 is 2 steps higher than AR1 its 1.25 * 1.25
I did do that, but it was months ago. May be time to run some new tests to make sure that nothing hasn't been changed while we weren't looking ![]()
Also, to really run the test properly you need to have a full suit of composite. The problem is that you are only going to get hit in the chest around 20% of the time. 80% of the time you're going to take full damage- which is going to kill you pretty fast if you're being shot at with a T-21. You also don't need to have 50% armor- you can do the test with any suit of armor as long as the resists on all the pieces are the same. Just remember to factor the resists into the standard equation and you should be fine.
Once again, our understanding of how the system works is that Special Resists function identically to Effectiveness (base resists). You should see exactly the same percentage of damage blocked while wearing a suit of composite with a 50% base resist to energy as you would while wearing a suit of composite with a 50% special resist to energy if you are shot with an AP3 weapon that does energy damage.
