Just curious.... Did something change with armor crafting?

I have some double layered comp segments that the base is 23%, Kinteic 11%, and energy 12%. (Yes, I know my armor sux, thank you)

I just stopped my factory run of some new (and I thought better) triple layered segments because I checked the stats... 16% base, 24% kinetic and 12% energy. I used better kinetic layers (2% base, 12% kinetic) and the same energy layers. The steel I used is much better then the first set. OQ, SR, and UT all way over 900. Is there something I am missing or should I wait for the final product?

When I crafted the new set, I maxed out quality (took all 10 experimentation points). With the first set, I am not sure if I maxed out quality. I think I put 8 points into quality then 2 into durability to try and keep HAM costs down.

Your triple layered segments should have a base resist around 25% in my opinion, if really the only thing you did is add another layer. So you either changed something else without realizing it or there is a weird bug. Personally, I have not had any problems of this kind though.

I do have a question and a suggestion for you though? Why do you use an energy layer in your segments instead of a third kinetic layer? By doing so you move energy to special protection making it unavailable for an effectiveness slice. And as asuggestion: if you want armor with a high kinetic resist,I would strongly reduce the kinetic resist in my layers and use three kinetic layers.

I am still pretty new to MAS. I have never had anything sliced although I now have a Master SMuggler I will be using. Thanks for the info. I am going to be doing some runs of Kinetic layers and will keep that in mind when I make them. I only doubled layered the kinetic since it will max at 80%. Adding in the energy layer gives the armor a slightly better edge. Although if it causes a problem with slicing, I won't do it anymore unless I don't plan to have it sliced.

The armor thing seems wierd to me as well. I am going to make some gloves side by side and see what happens on the final product tonight. Will post on what happens.

Keep in mind that the kinetic is added on top of the base. So as far as kinetic layersgo....

4%base/4%kin=3%base/5%kin=2%base/6%kin=1%base/7%kin

In my experience, these layers will give me the same result on the kinetic resist for the final combine. The base is going to be higher on the first one than the last though.

If you're goal is to make light armor, it's easier to raise the kinetic though.

Seems to me you accidentaly used a normal segment on the second try instead of an advanced one. Since if you get 24% base with 2 layers at 2% each you should get around 26% with the third layer in place. Advanced is usually 10-15% higher base than normal so that could fit into your scenario.

LOL, I think you are right. I must have done a regular segment and not advanced. I thought it was odd that it didn't require specific resources.
