Thread: how you get/make R.I.S armor
btw, a citizen in the city in which i am mayor once commented that he would pay about a million for a good chest plate alone! so i hope it were some really rich people who requested it

Don't listen to any of these guys! If u kill enough meatlump fools outside of Coronet, guarntee u will get a complete set of RIS armor.

How bad are the GDK drops on your servers?
I have confirmed 80 kills thus far and nothing to show for it.

you loot RIS from them?
no read that link in the post above it.
It is a armor that hypothetically can have better resists than composite and be much much lighter as well if done right. You have to do these quest to get the schematic, it takes rare loot drops and some obscure resources to get it done.

LOL this guy talking about looting it from meat lump thugs is nuts.. You cannot loot the armor from any NPC. It can be better than composite if you use the Acklay R.I.S Schematic. I am on shadowfire and have crafted a total of 8 pieces. I currently have five good pieces and 3 that are basically just junk. In order toget a single piece of the armor u need to get one gurk hide and one woolamander harrower bone fragment to craft the armor segment. However the Acklay RIS schematic is a limited use item so i myself and probably most Master armorsmiths won't craft the segs useing the schematic unless u get 6 of each. Six is the max i believe because the Acklay Schematic requires Geo power cubes to craft and i don't think they drop in loots greater than six. So basically u need six woolamander harrower bone fragments, Six Gurk King Hides , and Six Geo Power Cubes of any color ( don't recommend White) Then its not a bad idea to get some other stuff like power ups for em. u can use rancor hides with6% or greater base (anything less is not worth the encumberance) and i recommend you consider looting or buying at least 6% base night sister layers. You can always skip all this and just get a piece crafted from a normal RIS armor segment but the stats will be similar to the best padded that most armorsmiths can make. probably like 80% kinetic and between 35% and 55% base depending on the resource stats. I can tell u this tho. If u ask a armorsmith to build you a piece of RIS armor without taking some time to accrue excellent armor layers, enhancements etc. He probably won't sleep well that night. I think RIS is probably the second rarest item in the game next to the lightning shooting night sister lance i have heard about.
As far as collecting the components ii suggest u do it in stages. Collect all the components for the armor Segments first. If u happen to see a Giant Dune Kimo while hunting gurks then by all means kill it. However in order to get a Giant Dune Kimo Scale u need to be extremely persistant. If you can't deal with the possibility of over 100 kills with no reward then don't bother. Most i have gone without a drop is 82 kills. Its like a slot machine tho. The odds are against you from the start. So plan losing. lol But if u stick with it long enough the machine pays out something eventually. I purchased a total of 3 GDK Scales and Looted a total of 6. Had a critical fail on my first assembly ever. Had a client crash once while my computer was loading the experimentation screen.. Had two fails durring experimentation too. So all in all i have had terrible luck on these things considering how rare they are. Even if u get a scale be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. I have killed over 227 GDK since they fixed the spawns on Lok and gotten six drops of those 227. That should give u an idea of the devotion required to create this armor. You can't just think u want it! You really have to work for it. LOL worst part of it is: Its hard to get help from others. I don't care how close your guild is or how cool your buddies are. eventually between 20 and 30 kills guys will get discoraged and decide its a waste of time.
There are two ideal ways to solo the GDK.
First is for the master rifleman. Use a T21 with high damage and fast speed. Honestly ur best bet is to purchase good Speed Sliced T21s and put a 33% max damage 16% Speed powerup on it. The GDK takes approximately 450 head shots to kill. On my T21s i lose one point of condition for every 3 headshot3s i perform. So basically u will lose approx. 150 condition points per GDK. Why am i telling you this? Because i dont want u to go out and buy a 500k-1 millino dollar damage sliced T21. for hunting these. Ok anyways as a rifleman u can't just tank em tho. U need full buffs good kinetic armor. The GDK has two things that really suck but u can use to your advantage. The disease and the intimidate. Unfortunatley a maxed out +25 disease resist does nothing to prevent it. Don't buy the disease resist food either. Nothing works. U will get diseased and sometimes intimidated but this is not always a bad thing. The reason why is the GDK has such a powerful disease that anything it comes into 15m of usually gets it too. This is important because it instantly turns ur worst enemy into ur best friend. All NPC except other Kimogillas will respond to a disease and attack the KImo. Then u get to sit back and Blast away. It helps to use faction standing also. I have excellent Nym, rebel, and Corsair faction. They always jump right in before they get diseased and take all the damage for me. Just have to get within 30m of em. MOST IMPORTANTLY USE WARNING SHOT! Warning shot is an awsome tool. While it doesn't normally cause the GDK to run like it does other animals it acts similar to a warcry. It pauses the Kimo for approx. 3 seconds. Excellent for stopping a charging kimo from getting close to you. If u do it carefully u can keep from getting diseased and get other NPC or creatures to aggro it before u ever even take a hit.
If you happen to be a brawler profession u can still solo em. In your case u would be wise to have some medic skills and constantly keep it intimidated. Brawlers do have a disadvantage tho. Basically the random spawns will respawn immediately if pulled far enough away from the spawn location. As a brawler tho u normally don't do any fighting while running and if u have to you are probably gonna get discouraged fast. lol Also u have to stay in the thick of the action. U can't really get NPC and creatures to take all the damage for you. And last but not least the Kimo like the Krayt likes to run away just before it dies so be prepared to follow on burst run every time u get close to killing one. Focus on one Stat pool when possible and forget meditation if ur a TK. You will get your disease right back on the next kimo. If you are not a doctor then your disease wounds are inevitable. If u are a doctor i suggest u heal ur mind disease only. Regardless of what happens most players end up with 650-1000 bf and all wounds in all pools before their buffs wear off.
Final Note: most of the giant dune kimo random spawns will respawn endlessly provided one important factor is considered. Do not destroy or attack the NPCs, creatures, and lairs that surround the spawn. Run away from em all. Kill the chasers if they don't give up but most times u can just aggro the next kimo and pull it to the aggrivating little flea to get his dose of instant disease and inevitable death. lol. Good luck to all who enter this endeavor and don't give up.
