And now for the question... hah:

Can we please get the lowdown on armor repair? Is it better for an armorsmith to do it? Are there any enhancing items that will help with it?

Will someone please address this and include it in a stickied thread?

If it has been... well point me to it

a master armorsmith has no extra skills in repair than you do

however a lot of masters have bought skill tapes and have a couple extra points to repair

No masters arn't any better, but just biting the bullet and repairing somones armour for them without arguing (because no matter how many times you tell them, they wont take "we are as good as you" for an answer). When doing novice it is not a bad way to make some money.

Based on anecdotal evidence from my clients, when a non-AS attempts to repair armor, I always hear they fail consistently, even with 99.9% repair tools. I have to admit that a master ASseems to havea MUCH better chance of repairs...I don't normally even use my +10 repair skill-taped clothing and I still only fail about 1/20 pieces on repair.

On Chilastra, I am happy to repair anyone's armor that asks (if I am not in the middle of something). Repairing someone's armor is an awesome way to get to know your customers and to help them out at the same time! Buy a crate or 2 of 99.9% repair tools and go to town. At 2k-10k/repair, I am not going to make much $, but I may find a client who needs a new armor piece or suit, if the repair isn't successful...

I have to agree with the last poster. I have tried to repair my armor several times, mostly cuz there never seems to be a master around. Out of 3 suits of comp, using 99.9 tool, i succeed on 6 pcs total. Now, i take mine to a master, and ive not gotten a pc destroyed yet.

Now, maybe the masters skill should be higher than it is currently, but id have to disagree that the master is no better than anyone else is, cuz they are sure as hell alot better at it than i am.
