This happened to me just now... Man it sucks

Itwasmy onlywoolymander bone fragment and Gurk King Hide and all i need to make is the Boots and i can get the rest of the schematics.

Now can anyone explain to me how this is fair to armorsmiths to lose these very expensive and rare peice to a critial fail?

My request to the devs is since armorsmtihs got shafted when every other crafting professions got tools belts of somesort is this:

Give us our resources back when crafting Rare armor such as RIS or the Mandalorian. I know this can be done since Jedi get there pearls and crystals back when they fail on upgrading their sabers. Think about how mad people is your group will be if you fail while inside the Death Watch bunker and lose the BH armor peices that are needed to make it?

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

Same thing happen to me.. I've made the same request to them, especially since architects get there materials back when they fail on making houses and harvesters.. I say either every professionlives with the failures or you have to make all hard to make items return your materials after a fail. Can't give this to some professions and leave out others... not fair at all..

I have never crit failed on an RIS piece. Use food, be in a research center, and use a fresh tool from a crate.
