So here it is. What you've all been waiting for. And I have to admit, I stole the idea.

My big fix offers these solutions:

You'll love it because your character gets to go do interesting things and you get to be an armorsmith!

No Worries about getting killed by mobs.

PIck up any armor cert you want with my solution.

Hey Rangers Don't Worry! There will be lots of AS's to buy your wooly, now!

Hey Devs! You'll love it because you only have to edit a few lines of code!

What could possibly do all of this, you ask?

Just do to AS what you did to politician. Make it cost zero skill points. I promise I'll keep running my business. I won't complain that you made Armorsmithing 2 dimensional. I won't complain that my old stocks of resources are trash. I won't complain that my 12pt suit is worthless. I'll just fire up my new profession and keep myself entertained. Tons of people will pick up AS. They'll make their own armor. Rangers will sell tons of hide. Yippi skippy. We can all dance on the grave of what used to be Armorsmithing.

I can now have an AS that is zero points........kind of

if you noticed, a lot of people that unlock their second slot, make a crafter for the second toon to support the first. Two toons, one account.

I just unlocked....so if you must have a zero point AS, then just get grinding while you can

they almost should make all non-combat skills cost zero points... it would make it so people could at least survive in the game. Yea it would destroy the game economy allowing extra crafters to pop up at no cost in character functionality... but then again... its hard to destroy an economy if no one is playing anymore.

That idea sounds alot like the system used by WoW. Everyone is allowed to take two professions, you could be an armor or weaopnsmith... alchemist... things like that. They don't cost anything extra but you have to invest some time and effort into it to keep your skill levels high enough to make the armor you need. The economy worked because raw components were actually more useful than the finnished product, generally people would only make what they needed for themselves unless they had rare pieces of equip they knew would sell.

The thing I liked the most about this system however is that since armorsmiths weaponsmiths etc. were not whole professions and points to the game... there was no need to have a system where your weapons and armor would eventually be destroyed. People don't play the game to create items, it's just an added bonus of playing. Even though items could actually get to the point where they were destroyed... repairing them back to full value was always possible.

Unfortunately this system cannot possibly work in SW:G. Crafters are their own class... they are not combatants, they have given up all of their ability to do combat in favor of crafting skills. Also, the simple fact that there are no places to buy armor and weapons in game besides from other players would mean that you would HAVE to be self sufficient otherwise you would never have any equipment, and there would be no way to cover all your bases. You would eventually get stuck and not be able to get anything new.

Or the Ever Quest 1 series, I had a pal dwarf that did alcohol runs, armor, and tailor. Had a monk that could cook and sew and fish.

I'd find his server he's on, while in the middle of some battle, pants him.

they never see it coming.

though I have to admit, I like his half baked idea.

Yeah - I've gotta say - I wrote my bitter little rant when the idea popped into my head. And the more I think about it, the more I like it.

Crafters are getting the shaft across the board with the CU - so why not just solve the inevitable problem now? It worked for politician. If they'd actually gone full-bore with ID it would have worked there too. There are so many obvious problems that are the result of an unnatural transition. I think this would be the simplest solution.

It is a very simple solution. I guarantee it will happen. Maybe not CU day 1, but one day they willin orderto keep enough people playing.
