Base is very low... whats the encumbrances ?
With good resources, you should be able to get 54-55% base unlayered, and for layered stuff, you should really be looking to break 60 base as a minimum (and then have very low encumbrances, around 600's)
What is the qualities of the materials you were using, and what process did you use for experimentation... maybe we can disect it a bit and see where you can improve on it

Most of my materials are high OQ, but unfortunatly my pockets are not deep, so I had to go semi cheap on some stuff. I just raised base, one experimentation point at a time, maxed it out.

Whats the encumbrances ?
whats the stats on your layers / segments that you used in it ?
If you cant get 20% unlayered segments (I read in your earlier thread that you managed that) you should be looking to improve on resources as your primary focus.
Basically... after that you have a few choices:
1: Max out durability/HAM on the layers, put 1 point into base, and the remainder into kinetic. That should give you approximately 2/2/2 2% base 6% kinetic layers.
Use those in your 20% base unlayered segments to give 26% base 16-18% kinetic layered segments.
That should leave you with approximately 61% base, 78-80% kinetic (if you can get the 6% base on kinetic) resists with around 600/500/600 HAM costs.
or 2: 4% base layers, with natural kinetic resist from the initial combine (2-3% or so) with heavy HAM (almost all points put into effectiveness with the remainder as durability/HAM)
this will leave you with 68-70% base, 80% kinetic with 800/700/800 or higher HAM costs.
But I must stress again, making sure your unlayered suits can match the 54-55% base (and subsequently ensuring that your unlayered segments are as close as possible to 20-21% should be your main goal.)
Its entirely up to you if you want to make a go of selling lower quality suits, but it'll be a very hard market to break into with all the current established master smiths unless you spend a few months consolidating your resources and getting stuff as it comes in game (contrary to popular belief, since I became a master ive improved on each of my resources numberous times through in shift stuff... it does come, you just need to be very aware of it)
Your materials do not need to be necessarily high OQ remember... in some situations 600-800 OQ and 800-900 SR is a better situation... both OQ and SR are important to your crafting (note that I dont count anything which can potentially hit 900+ to be good unless it is 900+)
I know some of these points may sound a bit harsh, and it may be a wake up call that you cant compete with established smiths (it doesnt sound like you are expecting to have masses of it shifting off the shelves, but are just looking for a comparison at the moment),just because you hit master doesnt necessarily mean you should be 'up with the big boys' and maybe you should be looking to improve on resources rather than trying to sell an inferior product to an already over saturated market. Its always nice to see someone else giving it a go (after all, the greatest masters get bored, and theres always a need to someone else to run with the ball once they give it up) and I hope some of these pointers help you improve

Hehe, thanks for the tips. Dunno what total encumbrance is yet. Just made gloves to see what I could get. I'm dead outta money, so i'll just have to see what money I can make with what I got selling it for cheaper. If I make enough, I'll foxus on getting better resources, OQ, MA, SR, UT. heh.

Finished with a 79% kinetic, 65% electric 54% base. Worth a darn or what?

I was doing adv triple layered kinetic comp, and was getting 80%kin 78% Elect, and 63% base with resources i bought off the bazaar, i had to travel a bit to pick them up, but then i found a few more really nice resources on vendors and i can keep the specials where they are at and i now hit 67% base, ive found someone selling a really old shift of amorph gemstones that has all of our stats above 900. OQ+SR is almost 1950, im thinking if i can pick these up i can push a few 70% base suits, or concentrate on lowering my ham. And Im also a relatively new armorsmith, i just search the bazaars and forums for good resources.

HI. Got a question about this. So the 2%base layers can get you up to 65%+ final product?
Also, assuming hq resources (all are oq + sr greater than 1600), what is the minimum kinetic on a layer and/or segment to allow for 80% kinetic in the end?
My problem is I can't see how a 2% base resist layer can end up with 60% or higher final product
(Btw i have been a master armoursmith for 2 days....)

As a newly started Armorsmith I may suggest making high resist armor and selling it cheap waiting for new spawns. Not many people turn down a good deal. Sometimes its easyer , scratch that. it is always easyier to make heavy composite armor.
It takes a lot of experience (I dont include myself) to make the lite and fluffy kind of composite... but I am trying.

I dont think so... best ive ever gotten with 2% layers is 62% base -> 55% unlayered, + 3x2% + decimal rounding

Until you say what base you can get on your unlayered stuff, im not sure, im no good at converting OQ and SR values into real resists, though theres probably a calculator out there that can do it somewhere. My current stuff is 19% kinetic combined (6% displayed) with 1.xxxxx% base (rounding) on each layer to give me 27% base / 19% kinetic segments, which converts to 61% base and 80% kinetic.

It cant really... 62% is the best ive seen using 2% layers... 3% layers should get you 65% with good resources though, and still leave plenty of room for HAM reduction.
