Thread: One new item to fix the GCW.....
- 70% (max)resists to everything(or maybe a vulnerability to one of the more esotericdamage types like Cold, which could be layered in as a special protection),
- +65 disease and poison resistance mod,
- The appearance of a special type of factional armor (sort of like ST armor for imps, and something "rebel-ish" for rebels) to improve the "appearance" of the GCW.
I totally respect and support this proposal, in that it would clearly help iron out some of the GCW issues that are causing everyone huge problems. As the GCW is clearly your interest in the game, I can see how this would help you out and make the game work better for you guys.
However, although I see it asa nice bandaid, I wouldn'tpropose it myselfin that I believe it would lead to our other issues being looked over. I have tired significantly of being thrown tiny bones by the DEVs (Wookie Armor, Imperial PSG's) many of which that we didn't even ask for (Read: RIS, Interwoven Bone, Interwoven RIS, Imperial PSGs, crafting changes), while our issues with Shifting Stats, Armor Holes, RIS loot drops, Complete dominance of Composite in the market, have been overlooked.
With GCW changes coming, and a revamp of weapons, it seems the perfect time for them to actually spend some serious time looking into our profession and making some changes. Adding Faction armor is definitely one of these changes, and if they make it as you have requested, I see that as fine, and I believe it WILL happen eventually.
However, I would propose that more important is a re-vamp of all the lower armors in relation to composite (eitherin the form of other armors getting buffer ora composite de-buff), allowing for some type of viability of other armors in the game. If we don't push this issues on the DEVs now they might think that another small bone they throw our way is sufficient, and another 6 months pass until our profession is looked into again at all.

Honestly, **edit** that.
People have always complained about the GCW. People were complaining before the first piece of composite was made, before the first doc buff was applied, before the first brandy was brewed, before the first mind poison was thrown. It's the nature of PvP'ers - any time someone comes up with something that they can't beat, they **edit**.
PvE on the other hand has been vastly improved with by all of the things that PvP'er whine about. There is still plenty in this game that can't be soloed without some uber bugged flavor of the month template, and plenty of high level content is available now that we don't get one-shot killed by anything badder than a Tusken raider.
I'm sick to death of PvP'ers trolling everyone elses profession forum coming up with ways to nerf what they perceive as the cause of GCW imbalances and trying to pass it off asa "fix". Here's a clue - it's not broken. I say screw 'em - they're gonna whine regardless of what changes are made to any system in the game, so why bork it up for everyone else who's quietly enjoying themselves?
Get out of bed on the wrong side this morning Cas? You may not PVP, but a lot of people do, and a lot of people are quitting or sitting out because PVP is so f-ed up now. BTW, I'm a combat medic/rifleman proposing what would be a significant check on my own abilities. So I'm not whining about anything.
How would introducing a single new item like this "bork" anything up for anybody? If you're so concerned about PVE becoming imbalanced, let me ask you this: Why would anyone trade 90% base resist armor for 70% base resists to use in PVE? Because of all the NPC Combat Medics?
Dont worry thats just him, earlier this week I wrote a proposal on adding all the different types of storm trooper armor in the game and making each one have a different vulnerability and strength's. As you can guess the proposal was unacceptable to DirthNador since it had something in it to nerf stun weapons and then I mentioned that Jedi should get a low resist weapon and he said pretty much the same thing. F%^$ck That Im tired of people like you trolling in my forum by trying to get positive changes for Jedi. Dont mention that the idea would have put easily 10 craftable suits of faction armor as well fix the stun weapon dilemna in pvp but according to Dirth the idea was pure trolling.
Its funny how Dirth will complain about others trolling his forum but whenever I see him post on another forum its always to troll.
Right Borwin, I gave you the same response because you were another person coming to our profession's forum to suggest "fixes" that nerf an unbroken part of the game to address the one you want to see boosted. The Jedi forum was already full of "OMG make saber damage unresistable" and "give me my IWIN button" (hey, you wrote a few of those, didn't you?), so I'm not sure why you thought it necessary to come in here and post the same tripe.
Just another outsider (I don't care if your sig says you're a master armorsmith, your post history says where your loyalty is) coming in trying to "fix" what for the vast majority of us is a working profession.

Hmm well I wish you would take the same view on trolling other forums as you do when it comes to other people coming here and posting on YOUR forum.
Pointing out the FACT that PvP'ers have always found something to whine about no matter what changes the devs make to balance combat is not trolling. I'Il say it again - there are many more problems with PvP than nerfing armor could ever fix. To go and nerf everything that you feel imbalances PvP would nerf what for many has finally become an enjoyable PvE game. I'll make no apologies for defending that.

Your posts here are trolls, even while you accuse me of trolling. Yet you haven't pointed out one thing that's wrong with, except the fact that you don't PVP, couldn't care less about PVP, and don't want any of the devs spending any time doing anything to fix it.

As for PvP itself, I care about it a great deal. But nerfing every legit player's equipmentdoes nothing to stop the true problems with PvP - exploited krayt weaponry (yes, it's still on Ahazi), multi-sliced equipment, and the fact that as long as we're on a skill-based system there's no way to finda true balance between the professions, hybrids, and stackers.
Finally, calling for a nerf on anything for the sake of PvP at this point is premature. There's a huge combat rebalance coming down the pike. Short-sighted players are already responsible for many of the imbalances in the game - having certain abilites nerfed (i.e. knockdown) before counterabilities were functioning properly (i.e. defense vs. KD). It gets very tiresome for those of us who can see more then five feet in front of us to see history repeated over and over again by players who want things fixed NOW, regardless of how it will affect the game down the road when pending large-scale changes are made.
That's fine, and very well thought out on your part, but how isiteven remotely responsive to what I proposed? Did you even read it before you responded? When did I ever say anything about a nerf?
I said, "add a NEW type of armor". I didn't say anything about taking anything away from anybody. How is adding armor with 70% stun resists, and +65 poison defense a nerf to armor? Is it because I proposed that this added benefit come with a trade off of slightly lower maximum base resists? Well, nobody has to use it if they don't want to. They can keep using their old stuff. So where's the nerf? In my forward thinking, I proposed this as a stopgap measure while we await the GCW revamp. It's one item, not a nerf. I proposed this as a way temporarily to fix some problems with PVP without nerfing anyone.

Holy **edit**, I read your original post twice before I responded, and somehow managed to miss that. I feel like a complete bufoon. Oh well, at least it's one of my guildmates. /slap me next time I log on to Ahazi.
Wow. That's all I can say for myself right now. Wow. Where's Snowcow when you need him?
