Thread: Hides: Time to Reduce or Remove?
Well anyone notice who's not in the game any more? That's right, Binky, scouts and rangers. So does it make sense, then, to keep the hide and bone requirements as they are now? Especially with the glimpses we've gotten of harvesting in the NGE world?
I don't know what Star Wars armor would use creature components anyway. Think there's much yak hair in a bulletproof vest? No, it's nylon, Kevlar, and ceramics. But I guess you need some reason to go out and molest banthas other than the missions where they've wandered onto the swoop track again.

I'm not sure I care any more, but many of you pre CU smiths will remember the hue and cry that went up from our community once we saw the massive quantity of hide we would be needing to make armor. In response, we were told (by Blixtev?) that the sole reason for this was so scouts and rangers would continue to have a source of income since doctor crafting (buffpacks) was being done away with.

If it were a Isaac Mizrahi design? Sure! From Tommy Pullmyfinge-, er, Hilfiger I'd expect something a little more safari this season, perhaps wrix or even mottled wrix. DKNY's line of bulletproof vests feature faux leviasquall and vir vur (please, PETA, no paintballs necessary here). Coach's line-up features fine Lokian Leather from the usual wide variety of sources trimmed with langlatch fur. Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren have been scouring Mustafar to find anything remotely furry, but have returned with severly-singed coiffures and dangerously dried-out skin ... expect nothing from them this season as they all have retired to a remote spa somewhere north of Doaba Guerfel to repair their own personal ecosystems.
Of course, the fashion juggernaut that is QRST Design will be featuring all-natural products straight from Kashyyyk in our line of bulletproof vests -- kashyyykian bantha fur-lined vests will be all the rage, we predict. And NO, LizzyD, no Wookiees were harmed in the production of QRST bulletproof vests.

You're all assuming that armor is going to be needed just as much in the NGE as it is now... maybe these rates go along with the new system![]()
My thoughts exactly..

Very good post Pyke and you are right. The whole reason for the insane hide cost is removed, so change it back.
Instead of thinking of changing your profession, why not start supporting the return of the Scout/BH/CH profession... And remove the stupid loot system for creature resources.

I didn't hurt any wookiees producing bulletproof vests either. Testing to see if the vests WERE bulletproof was another story!BOOM! "The wookiee's dead sir, Yak hair really isn't bullet proof.""Hmmm, nice work professor, get another wookiee and we'll try Bol hide."
Hey Quar, I just had a great new idea for armor. Those trandoshan's have pretty thick heads and skin. We should test it out for possible use in armor. How about 7:00pm on Bloodfin? I hear -6692, -4176 Rori is a good place to start looking.
