Because I'm sympathetic to armorsmith's:

I hate to admit it but I'd give serious consideration to the thought that crafters will be gone soon. Console gaming wouldn't be very crafter friendly.

I also wouldn't trust the "official" confirmation that "crafters are a vital part of this game". The post above explains.

Just an FYI

Ok, I read your post over there. Seriously, people should stop lending credit to that.

First and foremost, you can't put a mmorpg on to a console that has bugs. Has anything in the last two years of Star Wars Galaxies even hinted at the day when this game will be bug free?

Second. The console mmorpg market is not very good. There is no long life in it, and the market for "Console MMORPG" games is minute, the only reason the Final Fantasy one did so well, is the huge following that game has. Yes, Sports games and other games make huge fortunes on consoles, and rarely ever make anything on computers, this is because consoles are based more towards actions and less towards having a large number of options.

Finally, the only thing you're lacking in your rant that I've seen done by a dozen or more people that have "played since beta" is reference to how your going to quit and go play World of Warcraft or some other game.

hmmmm, interesting. First, if you doubt that swg is moving to console...

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=npe_discussion&message.id=69051

I'm sure that the VP's of SOE and LA have it wrong too.

Have you been digging through the forumns? There are lots of external links to the major console gaming companies that you may want to check out. I've even seen a few from SOE Devs and a few more from LA representatives. All say that SWG is moving to console and probably within the next 6 monthes or so.

Next, the console market for mmorpgs isn't very good now, but what about with new versions of console platforms with new capeabilities? For now, I guess we'll just dismiss the fact that this particular mmorpg has failed to meet the sales expectations of LA. I'm sure that the best business model is to throw your hands up in the air and just keep pumping your capital into a product that isn't producing at expected levels. I mean, failing in this market is bad, but failing in an extremely larger market (like console) would be worse right? Let's try some math:

Hypothetical numbers to get you started:

PC market share * market size = 10% * 10 = 1

Console market share * market size = 5% * 1000 = 50

As you can see above, failing in the PC market is clearly better. I mean 1 is a much larger number than 50.

I'm sorry for not including a note in my "rant" about leaving for another game. Certainly, the fact that I am expecting bad things for this game does make me just like the rest of the "vocal minority". I hope that you didn't accidentally mistake me for being different or dare I say it... correct?

I know how facts can be a destructive force when they intrude on your happy fun place. Thanks to your precise and logical deduction of the situation I'm beginning to see that LA couldn't possibly go against its paying customers and change the game in such a drastic way as to upset it's user base. It's not like there's a track record there or anything.

Oh, BTW, I havn't played since Beta. Actually I missed it by a fairly large margin. Again, sorry to disapoint.

Ok, glad to hear your not quiting for another game, and not another gamer that's been playing since the crucifiction. However, I've read your links and no where have I yet to see something stating that they are going to pull the plug on the pc version of swg and move it exclusively to a console. The only thing I keep seeing is everyone pointing to links like the one you refer to in the last post where an SOE exec says that they want to see us able to log into our game from anywhere, not that they want to put it on ps3. Personally I like the idea of being able to log onto my game from my computer at home, my buddies ps3 50 miles away, and to check my vendors from my cell phone. That sort of gaming is a lot friendlier to those of us that don't have as much time to play.

Your hypothetical market shares look interesting, but without hard facts they mean nothing, and looking at all video games in the market, yes, console's do make more money, however, you have to look at the type of games that do well on consoles, and the types that do well on the computer. Console's are more popular for sports and action games, while RPG's and strategy are more popular on pc's.

Now, I'd like to see the posts that you refer to above that devs & LA reps are saying we're moving in six months.

I can safely say that you're not one of the "vocal minority" that expects bad things for this game. I think pretty much everyone is. However I wouldn't go so far as to say SOE wouldn't do something as drastically stupid as turning off the pc servers and telling everyone they have to play on the console. After all, we have only to look at the last two years to see what they would do.

Oh, I'm not a 2 year, Beta playing Jedi vet. Just started a year ago, and I'm primarily a crafter. I must say your posts have been more interesting then most of the ones i've been reading on here lately.
