Hello all,

I read through the holosmith thread and decided on the Mabari Chest Platesroute.

Now, If I read this right, I can begin making these things as soon as I ding Novice Armorsmith, right?

Now to make the requisite 1822 chest plates, I will need (not accounting for failures,I will bump the figures accordingly whenI purchase them):

150,000 metal

119,000 fiberplast

73,000 hides

46,000 inert petrochem

For myself and then I will need a Tailor to make me 5466 synthetic cloth in factory crates which is made up of:

88,000 fiberplast and 22,000 inert petrochem.

It also says I should use a factory to make my chest plates, which I presume I purchase from an Architect. Sorry, I was never an artisan, I have NO IDEA what I am doing here

I already purchased 5 armor tools and an armor crafting station.

Once I gather all of my resources, all I need to do is make a schematic infront of my crafting station, then bring the schematic and my resources to the factory, dump it all in and it does the work for me? No clicking through a macro for 7 hours?

I don't beleive you get the XP when you put it into a factory. If that was the case I'd be making factory runs of Ubese shirts all the time.

You are somewhat correct. Your calculations seem to be sound but you won't want to make the final combine in the facotry as you only get 1/10th of the experience you would had you hand crafted the armor.

I WOULD suggest making the armor segments and synth cloth using factories however. You'll get less exp for them but you can easily make up the difference of this experience by making about 80 more mabari chests or so (Which is better for you and your mouse).

Ah so, I can make the sub-components in the factory but, when I make the actual shirts, I should be manually clicking away at my crafting tool?

And what type of factory do I need?

2 things, it's only 1722 Mabari Chest Plates. Seconly, if you have the resources it's an easy grind. I did it in a little over a week clicking an hour to two hours or so a day. After mastering Weaponsmith it was a breeze. Try makingalmost 11000rifle barrels at 94 xp a pop.

Crafting by hand will give you MORE experience than factory runs. If you're lazy, go the factory route. If you're into speed, then make it by hand and make sure to check off the "practice mode" box, it will grant you an extra 10% XP.

I am definitly into speed. Is there a speed benefit to making the subcomponents by hand?

Basically I HATE sitting and clicking. I will pay for the resources and I will manually click the subcomponents as opposed to running them in a factory if the end result is getting me into my next prof faster.

The bottom line is, I want to do whatever I can to avoid just sitting at my computer and clicking away in front of a crafting station. I am not an artisan I like to hunt/fight.

Sitting and clicking at a crafting tool kills this game for me.

Making the Mabari segments can be tedious. Making them in the factory, however, you will not get as much XP as you would if you were to make them by hand (granted, its approx 20XP per segment). Make sure to stand next to the factory or within 1000m in order for you to get the XP while the segments are cooking. Otherwise, the limited XP you get from making segments in the factory will be lost...

Just factory run a bunch ofjunk Mabari Armorweave segment... Takes like 17k of any metal to make 1000 of them... Then Make the Mabari Chest... I just started AS on Sunday night and I am at 2/1/1/0 and I am only grinding maybe 1 to 2 hrs a day on the skill boxes... I could go a lot faster if I felt like it, but I am taking my time with this profession... just so much to learn about the AS profession...

The limiting factor is the Hides and the Synthetic Cloth... Best bet is to make friends with a novice talior and have them create you schematics for the SynthCloth... just give them the materals to make SynthCloth... Its like 16k fiberplast and 4k Inert PetroChemicals (ANY) And make friends with a Ranger... A master ranger can hunt and kill large critters and pull an average of 50 to 60 hides a pull if not more...

its too slow if you just sit there and make 20 segments for 30xp and then 20 chest plates...

But give the crafting macro good pause... Good rule of thumb is 2 second per material going into the schematic... So The mabari Chest is 2 slots Metal, 2 SlotsFiberplast, 1 Slot Hide, 1 Slot Know Petrochems, 1 Armorweave segment and 2 Factory crated Synthetic Cloth. So mines about 16 seconds because I dont have a mouse that I can set up as a Double Click Button... if I go get me one of those I could probably skim down to 10 to 8 seconds a combine...

The xp on these are a lot better than the UAK's and its a lot less work... Yes the Initial Cost is higher but the griding speed is better...

Definitely make the armorweave segments in a factory. It will go by MUCH faster.
