I haven't been able to find information on this in the sticky's at the top, what is restraint resist? What damage does it protect from?

I ask because my AS has recently made some composite, with resists to everything, including restraint. I've seen it as a resist on animals before, thought it might be for traps, although not sure how that would help in a suit of armor.

Currently there is no restraint damage in the game. Might be added later, who knows?

Restraint is Force Damage. Nightsisters and perhaps Jedi will do this type of damage.

Though I believe Force Damage (Restraint) should not be protected.

Most force powers have their damage type dictated by the weapon the user has equipped. Go hunt some nightsisters to see for yourself. They pull out a rantok/scythe/etc. and their force attacks do kinetic. If they pull out a a stun baton their force attacks do stun damage.

Really? I could have sworn that their lightning went right through my composite. Been a while since I've fought them, though.

Hmm, if restraint damage actually is "force damage", a properly shifted PSG should be able to protect against it. As should Tantel or RIS. Anyone want to go test this out?

If it's true that force damage is blocked by a properly shifted PSG helmet, it might be a bit of an incentive devote more resources to the stat shift bug.

Composite has restraint resists, no need to get a shifted PSG or piece of tantel to protect against it.

Force lightning will go through non-stun layered comp if the wielder is using a stun baton. This experience is from my MBH, not my MAS. Wearing kinetic layered comp the only way a group of Nightsisters were doing significant damage to me was when they wereusing stun batons. As hunting them is a favorite pasttime, I switched to full stun layered comp and now really only worry about their Force debilitate.

This in one of the legitimate beefs the Jedi have with the current saber/Force system. With only kinetic damage weapons available to them, all of their attacks become kinetic based.
