Thread: poll how good are your kinetic layers?
Im quite new to armorsmithing but Ive found out that I can get my layers to 4.66 (4.68 in reality but whos counting up there) on base giving me the 14 base
Given that my unlayered is 52% I had to get 14 out of my kinetic special that was easily done with one point in special (5.5 I think)
Next Im going to make a 4.66 base unexperimented special which should get me a 4% (5.5 + 5.5 + 4 = 14) This will leave me a point to put into encumb
I dont know if this is good or what but its what Ive been doing. And thinking about doing :-)
4% base/4% kinetic, encumberance 12/12/12 layers
used for 78% electricity/80% kinetic/69% base composite

To understand why it is not a good idea to raise kinetic, you must know that kinetic resist is capped at 80% and that for composite armor the kinetic resist in the final product is determined by both the kinetic and the base resist of the segments used. Hence, you can raise kinetic resist by raising base resists in segments and layers.

Oh and I would rather raise base first and then lower HAM with any points left then the other way around. Not many want superlight armor with crappy resists instead of heavy high-resist armor.

Gives me 80kinetic 61base and 545/480/557HAM

basically the same. depends totally on what you're going for... best is very subjective.
I often do 2/2/2 1 pt into base, and maybe 2 into kinetic. This often gets 61-63% base with 80% kinetic and super light. 12 points help though ![]()
