Wookiees can strap on some bark, twigs and feathers and be as protected as the best metal alloys, plastics, and synthetic fibers?

Yes that has bugged me in the past, how could metal armor protect from electricity.

If the armor insulates the wearer while drawing the charge to ground it works. Like lightning rods on top of a house protecting it from lightning.

A composite in the real world is more like fiberglass or kevlar...which is not a good conductor of electricity.

I don't think we really want to get started on a conversation comparing things in SWG to real life...the commonalities are few and far between.

electricty takes theeasyest path if you are incased in metal the eletricty will follow the case to ground
think about an aircraft they get struck by lighting quite often
the eletricty hits the top follows the hull to the bottom and than exits
people in the aircraft are uneffected and probley didnt even realise the aircraft had been struck

We /urinate all over our armor before battle... and i'm sure every other race puts on a body condom before their composite to protect against electricity.

Actually, composite armor in the star wars world is highly conductive and has millions of electron shield thingies running through it, if it gets hit with some energy or electric weapon it absorbs the energy quite easily. (which is why it has an electricity special resistance)
Of course they could also take a light saber for about half a minute until it overloaded, at which point the lightsaber will finally make it through.
Just some food for thought on the metals resisting electriciy
And wood resisting fire, a solid chunk of wood won't burn unless it's in a really really big fire, and then it will take a very long time to do so.
