Thread: Thoughts on factories... (caile, read/reply or a certain angry lizard shall be stalking you!)

I keep a novice AS character, and I have to say, I'm not happy with what the CU has done with him.

Why the hell do I now require a factory to make the materials I need to craft Mabarai? Are there any plans to change this, maybe?

Personally, I don't think "x number of identical segments/cores from a factory crate" should be required at all. Factories should give identical stats, sure, but they shouldn't be a necessity. When I hit master, I'd much like to do the same I've always done up til now; craft each and every piece of armor and it's components by hand, and only start using factories if I can't keep up with orders (fat chance of that).

Caile, are there any plans to maybe change it so that a factory, or identical items from a factory crate, aren't required?

Or am I the only one who would rather have the option of doing it all without a factory?

Factories are a GOD SEND...I use them for my layers, segs and cores. I craft all the skins by hand...waste involved with skin schematics is too expensive like close to 60-90k depending on armor type. Learn to use factories...theres more to SWG than just making 320 second craft time layers...then 240 craft time segs and finally 200 or so craft time cores. When I first started AS I had the same mind set...crafting by hand is good it teaches u the trade. However, once ur name gets around u wont be able to keep up with the potential business.

Welp, until I get to the point where I need a factory to keep up with the orders, I'd like the option of not needing one, really.

That, and I'm a bit on the poor side for a crafter. The money to keep a factory up would break me at this point, since my armor isn't up to the standards where anyone in their right mind would want to buy it.

Just put up one factory...shouldn't break ya too badly. Believe me there's a market for everything, even unlayered suits for people who just want the look and dont have the money.

i dont think unlayered suits even caught up with Sunrunner, i havent made one ... well yes some for fun, but it doubles the resource use for quad layer and customers wont pay double for the small increas in proitection.

my unlayered sells like.. well... you know the stuff that sells fast.

I have to agree, there should be at least one suit that does not require a factory to make.
As it is now the only finished products an armorsmith can make without a factory is AUK's and PSG Mk.1. It's ok that high level stuff requires a factory but there should be an option for new smiths.

I agree. In the old system you didn't need factories right away. While I don't do anything without factories now, I can see why newer people may not want the requirement especially since they take up lots that could be used for harvestors.
