Ok guys, I decided to run an experiment last night... dont have the math numbers, segment/core stats atm. But at anyrate this is more of a what armor gets what stats (roughly) with which segments

all stats are listed in the following form

Kinetic / Energy

heat-cold / Acid Electric

*Note-my secundus and tertius layers were not that great due to poor resources available as you will be able to discern below.

I'll be back in a while to add some thoughts... but to all those BH's that want Assault thats Energy Enhanced or the Pistoleers that want Kinetic enhanced Recon, as you can see above... it's really not worth it. Perhaps if the DEVs could fix elemental damage there maybe a need for secundus and tertius layers, but for now it seems like a waste atm.

Just out of curiosity, what is the elemental damage for a lightsaber? Might be good to know if they ever fix that so we can give the BH's a little sumthin extra for their armor. Might be good to get a plan going for when (or if ) they get the elemental damages fixed.

Ok I'm done babbling for now.... discuss

Interesting stuff. I converted it to % protection, using the formula 4.5e-9x^2 + 1.1e-4x (based on a curve fit from Okram's numbers).

Heavy Energy Protection

Recon-Tantel Unlayered

4205/6205 38.3%/50.9%

5205/5205 45.1%/45.1%

Recon-Tantel Energy

3708/7884 34.6%/58.8%

5796/5796 48.6%/48.6%

Recon-Tantel Primus

5265/7265 45.4%/56.2%

5327/5327 45.8%/45.8%

Battle-Padded Energy

4288/6464 38.9%/52.3%

5376/5376 46.1%/46.1%

I don't see much reason to use Recon Energy over Recon Primus. 10% points of kinetic loss for 2.4% of energy gain. Maybe for Corvette runs.

Balanced Energy /Kinetic Protection

Battle-Padded Unlayered

5259/5259 45.4%/45.4%

5259/5259 45.4%/45.4%

Battle-Padded Primus

6041/6041 50.0%/50.0%

5103/5103 44.4%/44.4%

Recon-Tantel Kinetic

5855/5737 49.0%/48.3%

5796/5796 48.6%/48.6%

Assault-Composite Energy

5212/5388 45.1%/46.2%

5300/5300 45.7%/45.7%

Oddly enough, the Recon Kinetic comes out pretty good. You only lose 2.6% of Energy to gain 10.7% of kinetic. The reverse, Assault Energy, doesn't fair as well.

Heavy Kinetic Protection

Assault-Composite Unlayered

6197/4197 50.9%/38.2%

5197/5197 45.0%/45.0%

Assault-Composite Kinetic

7421/3303 56.8%/31.4%

5362/5362 46.0%/46.0%

Assault-Composite Primus

6831/4831 54.1%/42.6%

4893/4893 43.0%/43.0%

Battle-Padded Kinetic

6631/4513 53.2%/40.5%

5572/5572 47.3%/47.3%

PvE armor. Combine either of the last 2 with a PSG, and you'd have pretty well-rounded PvP protection as well.

It seems to me that layers are a luxury item, considering the small gain for large resource and time expense.

To answer the question about elemental damage it depends on the color of the color crystal. So impossible to know before what you should layer for (specialy since switching to another color is quickly done).

thanks a lot for all that info, is very usefull for all the armorsmiths who want to compare their products.

i think BH need more energy protection than kinetic, because of the lightsaber dmg. Anyway, i think every bh shuld take pistoleer, not only for the trickly shots, the recon certification is very usefull against lightsabers, and if u heavy layer the recon, u get a very nice protection.

my gut is the above. a bh/pistoleer would be very effective because he/she could wear recon armor.

on naritus, i was able to hit, unsliced:

  • 8100 energy

  • 6000 acid/cold/elec/heat

  • 3900 kinetic

pistoleer cause they wear recon.
