coming back to armorsmith after a year and just wanted to know how important the XP points are these days, any thoughts would be appreciated...

No.

If you are waiting to get skill tapes before you open up an AS business, DON'T!!!!!

With what people charge for them, not worth the investment. Unless you got credits and nothing to do with em.

well I don't really have the cash to shell out, so maybe i'll just try to find the tapes on my own. Prior to returning to AS i did weaponsmith which seemed to totally revolve around the 21pts. Thanks for the comments, I hated to start a post on this but all the other threads I read didn't really say "Yes" or "No". The mixed comments here and the mixed comments elsewhere on the board really put enough doubt in my mind that blowing 15mil on a suit is just not really needed, maybe after i net 15mil in sales i'll do it, but doesn't seem needed right off.

Man...what are u talking about? u can easily pick up +20 armor experimentation for less the a few million credits. Those bablies dropped considerably in price. check the trade forum. I paid something like 35mil for mine back in the day

I would recommend it, for a few reasons:

1.) The tapes are going to be MAD cheap now

2.)Assuming you have decent business and quality products, you should pay for your tapes in a day or two of sales

3.) having 12 points can be very helpful just incase you are doing a custom armor piece and don't hit all greats. 12 points can make up for a moderate here and there.

If he could get a +20 suit for under a couple mil, yes he should buy them. But he shouldn't hold off opening up shop though to get tapes.

shyea... not on flurry, there's plenty for sale, but at the same old prices if 1 million a point... not worth the money for the extra 2 points, IF you batch an expermintation role. Heaven forbid you actually try and tell someone that, they get all bent out of shape and start talking smack baout how your a n00b...

seems pretty stupid for someone to call someone else a noob over something that is completely random and not under our controll

I've heard that the tapes may get you additional condition on the pieces. I'm still waiting on my factories to pump out segs and have yet to actually put a suit together. I've played around with making some cores just to see what they come out like. None of the pieces to that point reflect condition, though you're supposedly experimenting to make it higher.

Another effect the tapes have, is to decrease the likelyhood of a bad experiment. Pretty much pointless, unless you're working with loot though.

If it's cheap....get it. Who knows, maybe one day it will have more of an effect. They could become valuable again, just as quickly as they were made practically worthless.

I took off my Armor exp/ Ass clothes yesterday, and I still cap on condition for the final assembly. Granted I am 3040 FS crating, but that's it.

So now I run around in a much better looking outfit than my all black (inherited) AS Clothes
