Thread: Crafting System Changes The Deathblow

I read through the recent replies from Thunderheart in the Weaponsmith forum, regarding the new changes to experimentation and I have to say that I am saddened...

I won't harp on about the way the changes are forcing all items into single line experimentation items, nor will I try to pursuade people that a member of the Development Team condoning the hoarding of "pre-nerf" items is a Bad Thing(tm). To coin a phrase from another popular SF genre, I will adapt.

My new Crusade or Jihad or whatever you want to call it will concern "Uber resource loot drops".

I cannot believe that this is even being considered. As a crafter, *I* am the one that goes out with my little bleepy survey tools and finds the good resources, for the more important ones I contract in professional miners to collect larger quantities, or what have you.

Putting amazing resources on Krayt Dragons or Tusken Warbeasts is just not cricket.

All this will achieve is turning crafters into a service class. We'll sit there, hoping that anytime soon some wonderfully brave and fantastic Combat character will come and save us from our Torment by demanding that we craft him a crate of "T3h ub3r<insert object>mang, I go7 deez ub3r l33t rezorses mang!".

Oh joy and salvation, there I was with nothing to do, now I finally have a master again, pity me for choosing not to play the game "properly", I serve only thee.

At least we all found out why they are changing the system in the first place - apparently we all asked for it...

Saw an interesting thread in the TK forums, someone there pointed out that TK's don't need weapons to be effective, but with the new crafting changes EVERY crafting profession will suck, and all new weapons will too. Why don't the DEV's consider this kind of thing before they go pulling out the telephone sized nerf bat. I really don't care that the crafting system isn't as then intended it to be, it works, which is more than I can say for many other aspects of the game. Fix the broken stuff first, geez.

SOE owns EQ

SOE owns SWG

are we really that suprised it is coming to this?

There are a lot of EQers who came to SWG and **edit** about no "phat lewtz" and in order to keep those people playing and paying, they add "phat lewtz"

i really hope they re-think this,im in it for the crafting not for the loot. And if I have to start hunting and camping "uber" mobs to make some decent armour then im not going to be a happy bunny.

That's the thing, crafters are only going to be able to get the resources for their own business if they go out and get them, or have some particularly generous friends! All the heavy combat types are just going to turn up and ask for a crate of armor or what ever to be made for them.

Yeah I still can't possibly fathom how they thinkthis experimentation changeis a good thing. Their ignorance of their own game is really shining through on this issue. All we asked for was to have experimentation success/failures looked at, NOT the whole experimentation system.

Well if this system goes through which it looks like it will. I will give up either playing or being a crafting class. I am master merchant now to accomdate sales on vendors now I am going to need combat too to make nice armor? Not guilded and buying hides is bad enough for me to compete with big guilded Armorsmiths. I do not mind the fact of interdependancy, but I fear this would force me to join a guild or leave the game.

I am truly disappointed
