Likely because the humans we are, resort to jokes in an attempt to relive stress in the worst of any situation. I mean look at all the grisley wartime humor that floated around in all the major wars.

Very true, humor goes hand in hand with anger quite often as a way to aleviate stress. I myself know I have anger issues, I wont get into why since this is not the place. I'll just say I have pissed off a LOT of people in game and out of game.

Seriously, get all the Armorsmiths on all the servers, guild up, and form SUPERGUILD. Thats when we have three factions, Rebel, Imperial, and Armorsmith. I will gladly hang up my Rebel flag for this.

Humor is how I deal with things and people as well.
A homeless woman once told me that humor is what keeps them alive on the streets, and without it, they would waste away quickly. That humor can get you through anything.
I have always taken that to heart.
