Question 1 Ranged Combat and melee combat are evenly effective.

Question 2 My character hasa unique role in group combat.

Question 3 How easy is it to figure out how the /con shield works

Question 4 How easy is it to tell you are in combat from the game interface

Question 5 The combat upgrade has made star wars galaxies more enjoyable for me

Question 6 Which particular new toolbars do you have feedback about. (open)

See the problem. No one has had any issues with the combat portion of it, but the upgrade effected much more than combat, Armorsmith has been rewritten, doctor has been rewritten, Bio engineer has been rewritten, Dancer/Musician has been made less effective. Yet every question but one is completely focused on how the combat works.

Question 5 can be used to give feedback, however there are two problems with judging based on the results of question 5. One, the advanced classes weren't available at the same time. Meaning, unless you weight it properly between results when there were no advanced classes and now, your answer is skewed. In other words, you could still test combat and express your pleasure before having an opportunity to view it in the context of everything else. Also, you'll have mixed responses, for every combat individual that is pleased, there is another class of person that is unhappy. And that's assuming that everyone would consider the entire experience and not just the combat experience.

I bring this up because of the numerous responses by the development team which point at these surveys as proof they are moving in the right direction. I would expect a combat upgrade to be better for combat. I refuse to believe the development team is stupid, meaning yes, this should be an improvement for combat.

You've essentially taken a one sided question and applied it as a sweeping generalization. At this point it works because of the ease of going to a frog grabbing whatever you want and running off into the wild blue yonder. Once this moves past the theoretical stage and into the practical stage things could look overwhelmingly different.

Those are all good points you make Ebepp. However, if I where to play the devils advocate, could this be interpretid as they are focussing on one area alone now in testing ? (combat). If yes, could it then be they would focus on other areas (crafting) at a later time in the testing ?

I hope i am right, tho i dont think so.

Good post, with good observations!

I don't believe so, based solely on the comments of the few bits of communication we've had. The answer to each of our crafting concerns has been that everyone is happy with the combat upgrade based on the results of the polls. The polls however don't address crafting.

Let's assume you're right though and there is some overhaul to crafting coming in the future. It would depend on what you believed. If you believe what I do that the armor crafting system was changed to fit the new functionality of armor (not going to debate how much I believe the change was needed *sigh*), then an overhaul of the crafting system would only result in minor changes. So it's make your stand now or forever hold your piece. If you believe the armor crafting system was changed just to change it, then why bother with the change in the first place to overhaul it again in 3 months, so make your stand now or forever hold your piece.

Since AS, WS, Doctor, BE and Chef (at least) have been completely changed in this upgrade, I'd say crafting is most certainly within the scope of the CU.

What they may have meant to say was, "We won't be paying any attention to the crafting community during testing and launch of the CU".

Whenever I log off TC, I make a comment about the state of crafting in #6. Depending on my mood, it is everything from polite and constructive to flaming from hell and beyond.
