Any thoughts as to my next training? Also, should I keep going with the mabari chest plates? thanks.

I'd say go to 4004 next, as this will boost your experimentation points and allow you to make some reasonable armour to chuck on the bazaar while you head for master (also helps to get the hang of experimentation and its quirks).
And yes, I'd say stick with Mabari if that's what you're doing now - since you already have the resources and most likely the macro set up.

Sweet, thats what someone in game told me a while ago. im 4-0-0-2 and halfway to 3. Ive got enough syn cloths for 4-0-0-4 then its wait for on the factories to finish more. thanks!

Allrighty Im 4004 and now logging for the night. should I head up PSG next or work on layers? Looks like to me that its the same either way.

Just do the trees. It doesn't matter which one you do next. Getting to master should be your goal not which silly tree to do next. You're grinding Mabari Chests.
Now, if you were crafting your way up I'd say that you should get 0,0,0,4 first to get the extra experimentation points and then get layers so you could start to get a feel for armor crafting. Obviously, you're just trying to grind to the top so it really does not matter a bit what order you choose to grind the trees.
So, get to master and then you can begin to learn how to craft armor properly.

Yep, i'm 3104 and intend to stay that way for a while, Master 'smitty doesn't really interest me at this point and I have more fun with the 'lower' armors right now anyway!

Usually I reccomend that new smiths start with 3104 .. at that point you can make decent ubese and start making some money
