HI everyone, im new to armorsmithing and I made a factory run of these KineticComp Armor Segmentswas wonderin if they are any good:

Base effectiveness- 30%

Integrity- 1,347

Health- 56

Action- 55

Mind- 59

Electrical effectiveness- 9%

Kinetic Effectiveness- 15%

Any suggestions to what i can do better is nice

Hmm, looks like you'll be just hitting the 80% kinetic mark with those segments. To be honest, I'd put fewer points into Quality, a couple more into resistance, and more into the Durability (HAM's) on the layers. Those segments look pretty heavy to me for just straight 80% kinetic armor.

How did you experiment the layers?

I'd highly recommend making a few pairs of gloves by hand, using hand-made layers and segments. Doing that, you can work out how many points you need to put into kinetic (resistance) or base (quality) to get the kinetic up to the 80% cap, and work out how many points you have left to drop into either raising the base, or lowering the HAMs.

My own personal preference for 80% kinetic armor is to get the encumbrance as low as possible - if people want high-base armor for slicing, they typically want nothing useful n the special resists, so that the kinetic/energy/acid can all go up with the slice. The market who wants 80% kinetic is usually for fighting creatures, where almost nothing else matters, so they're more concerned about encumbrance, and maybe being able to save themselves some expensive brandy.

You can get the encumbrance down a lot on those segments, for not much of a hit on the base - points into Resistance actually do more than points into quality when raising the kinetic on layers. With 10 points, I was making gloves with around 44/37/45 encumbrance, and the armor was 80% kinetic, 61% base (the segments were even lighter).

all depends on the metal you're layering with... i can make 2/6 kin layers with 2/2/2 ham as 10 point smith using expensive aluminum or i can make 4/4 kin with 10/10/10 layers using cheap iron. its been my experience that people dont really give a damn about HAM.

Base effectiveness- 30% <------ This can be 35%

Integrity- 1,347

Health- 56 <----- HAM can be 45/46 range

Action- 55

Mind- 59

Electrical effectiveness- 9% <----- Needs to be about 13% with your 30% base but would be fine with a 35% base

Kinetic Effectiveness- 15% <---- Can be less, around 13% and points spent on HAM or base

Of course, everything depends on resources and being +12.

The above is from memory, but roughly what I get and know others get.

to get the best results grind layers and segments until you get a double amazing... basically makes you an 11-point smith

All depends on your final resources what you need to get them up to. Also what your goal is, most people when they just want a kinetic comp they want low ham.

Myself I use 1/1/1 ham 2% base 7% kinetic... 3 layers

Segments come out to

25% base

11/11/11 ham

23% kinetic

Finals come out to 80% kinetic 58% base and gloves are 31/28/31 encumberance, helmet is like 235 mind encum.

I think the best way to find out what you need to do in order accomplish your goal would be to make a plain set of comp gloves with not special resistances at all. No layers in the segment... nothing.

After you find out what your plane base stats are, you can figure out what you need to spend points in to get 80% Kinetic.

I ( a 10pt AS )personally don't put anything into the special resistance in my Kinetic layers. My heavy comp is 16/16/16 HAM 4% Base 4% Kinetic. I don't remember my segements off the top of my head, its something like 35% Base 14% Kinetic 8% Electric. Gloves turn out to be 80% Kinetic/Electric 71% Base HAM something like 82/79/83.

My lighter comp is 5/5/5 HAM (Can't go lower so I put the rest to base) 3% Base (Amazing) 4% Stun. Segments are 30% Base 14% Kinetic 8% Electric and less HAM than my other one... don't remember. Gloves turn out to be 80% Kinetic 75% Electric 66% Base with HAM something like 50/47/51.

I just tried out that lighter one last night. I'm going to mess around with it again tonight... sacrifice some base and put it intothe special reistance so I can put some morepoints into the Segment HAM instead of the Base.

But definitely make a pair of plain gloves and work from there first. Let us know what you got going on.

Agree with billy, less on kinetic (Do not need to be more then 10% if my memory working today. That would get you up in base. And as it works now, the kinetic protection is a product

of base+layers exeprimental all the way.) I beg the diffrent with Electrical from billy, 80% or 77-79% does no diffrent, use it on Encum either way. Who uses Electrical now a days?

But if 30% is fully experimental on base (this is what you should do, Amazing on experimental) then you should keep at 13% as billy said.
