Thread: Are Armor Assembly Bonuses worth anything?
But not all seems lost for I have a pair of +2 Armor Assembly pants and may soon have another +2. What I want to know is this...are Armor Assembly bonuses worth a damn when it comes to making better armor...or is really all about the experimentation.
Sincerely,
A broke ass, down and out, Intrepid ArmorSmith

I know the expermentation is all important...but as you said it is quite an investment. (See Rocky's 60million dollar suit.)
So here I am at another question...
What type of NPC's drop AS skill tapes?
Let me know...Please.
Thanks Again
Not so down and out armorsmtih...+2 assembly
Lord Nyax, Dark Jedi Knights/Masters, Nightsister Elders, Axva, and any high end NPC also can give out some big tapes, however a lot of these things are camped and hard to kill for many people.

One question...how does a great or amazing success on assembly affect armor? Haven't quite figured this out.
In my experience, no. Some people will try to tell you that amazing or critical assemblies ("critical" is devspeak for "amazing", tear open the .tre files if you don't believe me) will let you bypass the resource experimentation caps, but they're mistaking a bug that most long-term crafters have experienced a few times for a feature. I've assembled literally thousands (maybe even tens of thousands) of layers and I've never seen a difference from amazing successes on assembly in the final product.
Also, assembly mods do not affect the chance to get an amazing success on experimentation. In addition to granting experimentation points, experimentation mods affect the outcomes of these rolls. Assembly bonues, whether granted from skill progression, tapes, manufacturing centers, food, and/or Force sensitivity affect the outcome of the assembly roll only. They're beneficial to crafters thatmake custom and/or loot-enhanced equipment, like RIS. I can imagine they'd be much more beneficial to a profession like weaponsmith, which is currently very heavy into loot-enhanced equipment.
