PROBLEM: Critical failures during armor repairs are a nuisance, are completely unrealistic, and add nothing to the gameplay of SWG.

ARGUMENT: If armor can take multiple blows from an ancient krayt dragon and still offer protection, there is no reason for a simple armor repair to completely put the armor out of commission. Even someone with no armorsmith skill should not have a chance of completely destroying an armor during repair. The biggest issue lies with the fact that a master armorsmith has theSAME CHANCEof destroying armor as a novice. Where is the logic in this?

SOLUTION: This problem does not call for complete removal of these failures. I do believe that someone with no armorsmith skills should take a big chance when repairing their own armor. Armorsmiths should have a skill bonus, for arguements sake, lets call is Armor Repair Efficiency. Now this skill would modify the chances of different consequences occuring with armor repair. Someone with a 0 in this skill would have say a 20% chance of complete failure, a 65%chance of condition deterioration, and a 15% chance of perfect repair. While a person with 100 in this skill would have 0% of crit fail (is the skill is maxed there should be absolutly no reason for critical failure to occur) a lets say 75% chance of perfect and 25% of deterioration. This would not only lower player spite (which i have alot of due to my past experiences with this issue), but it would improve the in-game economy because people would pay master armorsmiths to repair their valuable armor)

CLOSING: So why did I post this? Well, recently I completed the Katarn Clone Armor quest and I fell in love with the armor. After getting it sliced, it was over 6000 efficency. After a day of HEAVY grinding during Phase 4 of the force villaige, I saw it was in need of repair. I gave it to a master armorsmith with 2 100% efficiency armor repair tools and the helmet, chest, leggings, and bracer critically failed. There I sat with an utterly useless set of nice looking armor. ALSO I cannot obtain another set of it for a reasonable price becuase ONLY ONE SET PER PERSON.

What are your thought on this issue, maybe I am not seeing an aspect of the crit repair failures that make them realidtic, or maybe you just want to let off some steam becuse you have had unfavorable

Repair needs to be fixed period. My MAS has +25 Armor Repair, +25 Repair in SEAs on a set of clothes for just that. Using 99.7 ARTs, in theory, I should end up with only minor blemishes every time. When someone brings me a piece of armor, as long as it has no mods in it and it breaks when I try to repair it, I at least replace the piece to as close if not better than what they had. But this needs to be fixed, of that there is no doubt.

i agree, and i am no armorsmith. (i'm rifles/doc, have no idea why i'm even in these forums other then i'm very bored.)

i was shocked when i was asking around for an armor smith to repair my items, and i was informed that i could do as good of a job as any AS! i mean c'mon that is total BS. i too wore my clone trooper armour down quite quickly, so it is set down nicely in my house untill either a fix comes along, or i meet someone with the completed repair force sensitive branch as well as +25 everywhere he can get it. I found a random +1 to repair CA, and i put it on whenever i attempt to repair lesser armour, but i still critically failed on a decent helmet.

I don't care if it costs hella for you guys to do, i would gladly pay for this service, and it is a service you should be able to perform.
