Is this a good Kinetic Layer?? (its my first try at making one)
Base 2%
Kinetic 11%
Encumbrances all 17

not really. You need to decide if you want high resist or low encumb. Are you a master? if so, and you want high resist you should experiment your base bar (the middle one) up to at least 4% then put 1 in the bottom bar and another in the top. If you want low encumb then you should put it all in the top bar and then the rest in the bottom bar.

Im thinking resists are higher priority for me than encumb atm but I havent decided for sure. I am master, yes, but I am just now starting to actually make real armor so am trying to learn how to put these sub components together first.

This try, I did as you suggested and came up with the following:
3% base (bar was maxed out)
4% kinetic
Encumbs 15
I cant seem to find any resources better than what I have atm but will make another look later on to see what I can find. I got all Great success on the experiments for this.

Mine last batch was,
Base 4%
Kinetic 6%
Encumb 16
This allows me to get 80% Kinetic, and around 59-60% base.

I'm new to AS also...gathered recources for 3 days (have the best incycle atm, as far as i know) and on 4th day i decided to make some , i'll stick with them, 5,4,5 encumb, 7% kinetic, 2% base, and 38k condition

Your Layer really depends on which segment you are going to put it in.
If it is Ubese, then max out special (Kinetic maxes at 14.*). You only place one Layer in Ubese.
If it is Composite, then do your best to max out base with as much into durability as possible to reduce HAM costs. You can place three layers in Composite segments.
Since you are maxing out at 11% kinetic, I would recommend testing that layer by creating an Ubese segment. Max out the Special resists on the Segment, and then create a pair of Ubese gloves. Max out the Special resists on the gloves. This will show you what your Max Kinetic resist will be on any of piece of your Ubese armor.
With your resources only getting you 11% Kinetic on the Layer, I would recommend you stick with Ubese until you find better resources. You will make more money faster by selling reasonable Ubese than low grade Composite. "Low grade" meaning that most players scoff at anything less than perfect Composite. You also don't want to waste all your time and hard work collecting resources for Composite just to create something that "might" sell. Unless, of course you are dying to make some Composite. Then by all means play around making gloves or even a full suit.
You will learn a lot by playing with the numbers and coming back to the forums. Then you will have a better understanding of the craft and finally realize what most of these guys are talking about.
