Right now composit armor is the only viable PvP protection out there. The problem is composit armor (especially the 90% base 39% stun stuff) turns many professions and weapon classes into nothing more than annoying little gnats with no real sting.

It's my belief that composit armor should have bigger holes than 39% stun. Lets face it, unless you have a stun weapon you are only good for distraction and status effects, cause you can cause no real damage in PvP.

Mysolution (however unpopular) is to tie damage types together so that when armor is crafted with A as a resist, then B is a weakness.

with this sort of mechanics, damage types would fall into a list similar to this:

Kinetic - Energy

Acid - Stun

Heat - Cold

Restraint - Blast

Now the player must decide weather to block kinetic attacks or energy attacks, acid attacks or stun attacks leaving holes in the armor for enimies to find and exploit. This way no class becomes useless thanks to a good 90% to all resist composit god suit.

If this seems to have too many holes, then a 2 out of 3 approach could be made. The table would then look like this:

Kinetic - Energy - Stun

Acid - Heat - Cold

Where a person picks 2 resists and is left with fewer vulnerabilities over all.

Maybe shield generator could make up for the holes in the armor if they actually worked properly, but that is getting off track.

Lets say I go to and armorsmith under the 2/3 rule set.

I would then have to tell him, "can i get a Kinetic/Energy/Acid/Heat set of comp armor made?"

And he would say "sure, but you do know that you'll be vulnerable to Stun and Cold right?"

And I would say "Yes, but thats a risk i'm willing to take."

Am i way off base here?

I remember when SWG first came out an the PVP was horrible an caused a great exodus from the game. Now with composite an Doc buffs, you have a shot to live if you are in a situation were your gona get ganked for you can take a hit or 2. Put holes in the armor an come back the days shall where peeps die an clone an die again just out side the clone chamber again and again and again.

The problem is, Armor is too good right now.

80% armor + 60-70% PSG + food = no damage taken

I think I remember the devs once said that there will be no invulnerable armor.. I don't call 40% stun protection being a vulnerability.

I think comp armor needs to be vulnerable to 1 thing chosen at creation, This way, no armor is the same, and everyone has a weakness.

Its far too late in the evolution of this game to introduce anything like what you are all suggesting.

The bottom line is that this would create another whole pre-nerf market where pre patched suits would be selling at insane rates and new armoursmiths would be broke before the even started as no one is going to buy their crap when they can buy an uber suit for what ever price.

Nerfing armour is not the solution to any of the problems and trying to implement a nerf of this magnitude at this time will put the final nail in the coffin of an already dying economy system.

They just need to put a stop to the whole 'pre-nerf' business. I.e. scan the database and replace items with new items pulled from post-nerf schematics.

I completely agree... composite armor is way to good and makes pvp basically pointless unless oyu have a stun weapon which eliminates most combat professions.

Armor still has a lot of bugs, and it already has a "hole" that has been barked about on these forums many times in the past. It has never been fixed.

We need to have armor fixed as a whole before a new idea is brought around to try and balance a system (pvp) that has been thrown off onto a crafter, the Armorsmith.

If, and I say if.. Tantel worked properly (no stats shifted) that would be a light-weight armor that has no vuns that could be useful to the community that does not want to run around and search for 10k buffs all day.

But, that armor is only 3 pieces (helm, boots, and chest) and limited to what species can equip it.

As it is right now, Composite is the only "most" useful armor in this game, and the resource spawns totaly support that.

i remember 2 people on startport, fully buffed, comp, food dunking i

out for 10 min.. no great damage done. i would think, that

buffing in excess to 500 needs nerfing. If regeneration is 4K i cant

hurt you fast enough to da damage, regeneration is too high.

Otherwise. All just use composite for PVP. 80% Special resist IS

quite good.

Regarding Dying Economy: Wait what happens after the

Jedi wayrevamp, when all holocrafters drop out....

and only those remain, who WANT to be crafters....

I hope for an economic upturn.

Sorry, I just don't believe you......

According to the last post - everyone is using composite armor with high level doc buffs + other buffs. Everyone has regen rates soo high that any damage they take is just negated by the speed they can recover, and thus during large PvP battles the opposing sides just sit there shooting at each other for half an hour - nobody ever gets killed and people just go back home after getting board.

The truth is not like this - in a PvP battle, if you are on the loosing side it is unlikely that you will survive 5 minutes before having revived or cloned. So considering this, just how is it that these items are overpowered. Would you rather go to a system where everyone is just one hit incapped.

Remember - everyone has the ability to use composite and buffs - so this has no unbalancing effect on the game.

This armor/buff issue definitely needs to be looked into.I am personally behind adding some sort of new encunbrance based on on the Armor Type to movement or accuracy coupled with an overall reduction or cap on buffs to around +200%.

I threw up a poll on theGCW forum feel free to weigh in on which end you think it should be attacked from.

I disagree with you Corral,

As a master armorsmith I know how difficult it is to make 39%-stun and 90%-base armor. You might have a few suit of it on each server at most. Not everyone is running arround with this stuff. To change a whole armor creation process to make a few people less powerful is just not feasable. The constant changes to our abilitiesin the game is what driving people away from the game not anthing else. We all adapt to what the dev's throws at us and always find a way to make ourselves "Uber". What you propose would just make more people quit and make the ones who stay arround find a way to make themselve "Uber" again.

Not a flame just an opinion.

the point is not 90%. that was just thrown in there because its the top of the top. hell most of the time with buffs, even encumbrance sliced armor is good enough. (of course i would not choose the enc.route).

the point is as a rifleman i know i have the best weapon in the game with the Jawa Cannon. and as far a weapons go (based on the PvE world) its not even that good a weapon.the fact that it is stun is the only reason it has any real power. and believe me i'm starting to lose fights to stun gun carrying bounty hunters using KD and eyeshot.

all i'm saying is for game balance, maybe giving each damage type it's fair share against composit would be a step in the right direction
