To the point: I'm going to get myself a master armorsmith alt. I'm completely new to the crafting part of the game, but so far from what I've learned, I can't really compete unless I have 10-12 experimentation points. The problem with this is, even if I sold everything I have, I'd get MAYBE 5 million credits. With that said, it's quite obvious I simply can't afford experimentation tapes/clothing. Without the experimentation clothes, I can't compete in the market, and therefore can't move my product... what should I do?

You are not alll that bad off

When you get to master armorsmith youll have 10 experimentation points :-)
The last two are nice but not essential to becomming a succesfull armorsmith

10 points arent that bad. youll just make stuff with a little higher h/a/m than a 12 pointer, unless you have 900+ resources across the board in every stat

the problem youre going to run into is resources. ive been a master for a little over 2 weeks, and have dropped 5 mill credits on resources. so now im broke, havent made a single piece of armor, and still need 3 more types of resources in large quantities.

what i would suggest now, is to check out swgcraft.com and look at the schematics for the armor you want to make. then keep an eye on the current resources available on your server. if something nice pops up that youll need, throw every harvester you can find at it.

Yep, recommend getting your surveying line up, if you haven't already, and investing some of that 5 mill in harvesters. Medium BER 10's are the most cost effective for starting out, taking less power and credits to maintain for the resources they return. Start collecting the resources you will need. I suggest collecting resources for Advanced Ubese, Advanced Composite segments and Kinetic Layers. This will allow you establish a sales base supplying the PvE market. The HAM on Ubese isn't much of a concern. I generally still spend points on Durability, which lowers HAM. For Ubese, I experiment all points on the kinetic layer into Kinetic (lowest of the 3 experimentation lines in the crafting GUI). Any leftover point go into Durability (some folks go for base here, middle line in the GUI, personal preference).

With the PvE, Kinetic composite line, I spend my layer points 2-3 pts to special (bottom line in GUI) to hit 7% Kinetic resist, 2 pts into base (middle line) and the rest into Durability (top line). This should allow you to hit 80% kinetic resist, while keeping the HAM costs inline with non-layered comp. When I role these layers into the segments, put all your points against base (middle line), then remaining into Durability (top line). With any armor type, experiemntation on the specials will only effect the special that is inherent to that armor type, ie for composite - electric, ubese - kinetic (Yay!).

Much of this is dependent on the resources you are using. On Kettemoor, the Kiirium steel that I have is not good, I have seen 300+ higher on OQ on other servers. My best amorphous gem for kinetic layers hits a combined OQ/SR of around 1600.

All this said, you should be able to make some decent armor with resources above 850 each on OQ and SR. The malliability goes with the OQ toward Encumbrance, UT and OQ for condition. It will likely take some time to get the resources in line to make very nice stuff, by which time you will probably have the $ to start competing for tapes. I have been searching resources for 5 months and am still trying to improve on certain ones...always will be, I guess. That's the crafting game.

As a new Master AS, your most difficult resources will probably be leather and wooly hide. If you have an alt that hunts, keep looking for Good wooly, combined OQ+SR of 1400, preferably better. For leathery, I advise waiting until good Dathomir leathery spawns, then kill rancor for the entire shift and you should have a couple 100K stacks of decent leathery...

Hope this helps.

Just an added note...the more self sufficient you can be with resources, the better. Get at least 2 BER 14 fusion generators to collect power for the rest of your harvesters. Deploy them every shift until you have a buffer of 500K or more radio power.

Also, if you harvest most of your mineable resources, you will be better able to pay for harvestable ones like wooly hide.
