Even tho armor is vuln as with stun (although can still make layers for stun)

you would think that at some point there will be a limited use schematic or something for Lighsaber Protection layers as Cortosis is in the game in the form of ore.

From what the Jedi Archives have mentioned, there will be no resistance to lightsaber damage. Only way of countering will be PSGs.

**edit**?

What idiot came up with this retarded idea?

So basically we'll have Jedis running around mowing down everyone as there will be no protection against their attacks...

Yet one more reason to quit playing this game.

/puts on Star Wars geek hat

How about this, based on some desriptions of cortosis I've read and from other armor layer schematics:

Lightsaber Protection Layer

Armor Layer Frame - requires 25 units of metal

Energy Blade Disruption Matrix - requires 12 units of cortosis siliclastic ore

Primary Insulator Microlayer - requires 8 units of polymer

Energy Sink - requires 8 units of known inert gas

Honestly, we don't want to go down the limited schematic path if we don't have to. The weaponsmiths that I know in the game and on the forums are going crazy with these new 1-use schematics that include parts that make them difficult or even impossible to make more than one weapon from a schematic.

The stuff will already be gated due to the fact that cortosis ore in SWG seems to havea gate of around 200 on SR. If that wasn't enough, you could require the frame to take a specific type of metal as well (phrick aluminum maybe, dark trooper armor material).

Settle, settle, it's not that bad. With the new FS path everyone will be a jedi, and be able to get jedi robes and force defense powers...the other 33 professions can then be phased out in favor of a purely jedi based game.

Hmm, then again, maybe this is as bad as it seems.

A cortosis layer would be hella cool. An unlimited schematic that we have a fun, involved, exciting and yet doable as a crafter, quest to run to get. Well that would be even better.

Who here has absolutely no faith that SOE cares enough to bother?

yes, that would be a good idea, definately quest based unlimited schematic. But it needs to be a reasonable quest, not a silly one to complete like RIS is, that can cost millions just to complete the quest, and it needs to be smith orientated, completed with crafting, not relying on rare creature drops to make it hard/time consuming to complete.

Yes 's why I mentioned fun, involved, exciting, and doable by a crafter. All things the RIS quest isn't.

But we're talking about SOE here, so you're right, we have to speak like they're a bunch of dyslexic 4 year olds.

THE RIS QUEST SUCKS! MAKING RIS ARMOR SUCKS! IF BY SOME INSANELY RARE ALIGNMENT OF PLANETS YOU SOE DUMBASS'S GIVE US CORTOSIS LAYERS DON'T MAKE THEM A QUEST LIKE THE RIS QUEST!

... I wonder if I was blunt enough. Someone start smacking the devs with a wet tuna before it's too late!

Well the problmem is that jedi will actually do more damage if there target is resisting them. The reason is because if there is a nominal resistance, less than 50% or so, the jedi's AP 2 takes affect. It does not take affect against a vulnerability.

If the lightsabers are AP2, you would need to have layers with a resistance greater than about 20% to provide any reduction in damage (AP2 > AR1, thus lightsabers do 125% damage to an armor wearing target that is not vulnerable to their damage type. You would need a reduction of 20%, or 1/5, to be equal to a person wearing no armor or armor that is vulnerable to the damage type).

Of course, the way vulnerabilities work under the new combat system might be different.

from speaking to a friend who went to fan fest, they said the devs mentioned something about during the armour rebalance, ris/mando will stay same stats whlie other's like composite will drop and to make mando and ris different mando is supposedly getting light sabre resisitance. This might all be rumour but htis supposedly came from a mouth of a dev at fan fest.
