When making Composite Armor Segments, I noticedthat there are optional "armor layers" I can insert.. What are "armorlayers"?....

Armor layers are what make the Composite Armor good

layers can be used to enhance a cetin stat (kin,electric, ect) thing is the layers you use make that stat in special protection which means that stat cant be sliced any higher

Thank you for your answer but,... Where do I get them?.. Are they a looted item, or crafted item?.

They're crafted.

Both. There are some specialty drops like NS layers etc. However, the most common are the crafted ones. Just look on the skill chart in armorsmithing. You'll see an entire line called "layers".
