Thread: energy layered ubese?
I've been wondering this too.
And am I the only annoyed that the segments won't tell you what types of layers can be used? I was trying to play around with bone armor for kicks and couldn't add any layers to the segment. ![]()

Well, you can add an energy layer to Ubese. My unlayered Ubese is like 57%kin/17%base (been a really long time, so not too sure.) My kinetic ubese is 75%kin/22%base. Basically, if I put in an energy layer, Id be looking at 57%kin/40%energy/22%base...at least that's my best guess.
In the example of energy ubese you will not hit the same as you do with kineticlayers. This is because kinetic is a specialresist to start with and natural specialresists increase faster than if you have to experiment in base protection like in the case of an added energylayer.
So if you add an energylayer it will drag energy up to special, but you will have to experiment in base to increase it. Since base increase slower than the natural special (if experimented on) it will not reach the same max potential.
I don't think anyones seriously worked on the base with ubese, it'd be pretty weak tho.
At a guess I'd hazard 30ish percent (pure speculation) add a 14 % layer and you still don't even have 50% energy.

The numbers in () are the amount of layers the armour can take, for the armours with two numbers the second one is for interwoven (get it from the Genosian Lab).
Without using any enhancements I get:
energy layer - 2% base / 14% energy
adv. ubese segment - 9% base / 24% kinetic / 14% energy
ubese gloves - 37% base / 36% kinetic / 51% energy
Maximum value for energy resist is probably around 55%.

Yes they come as limited use schematics and they drop from the ackley as far as I know. If I remember correctly then they 5 use before you need to learn a new one, also need to be master armoursmith to learn them. They require genosian powercubes which can add to base %, remove encumbrance or add to condition. (or in the case of white cubes, do nothing)
great thanks for the feed back guys, wasn't aware that kinetic was a special from the start, reason i ask is i've been doing a lot of corvette runs lately and all the dmg up there is energy, everything stays in ranged combat and dosn't switch to melee at any point. so i was wondering if there was a cheaper and lower encumb alternative other then comp, does anyone have suggestions? how high can padded get?

Padded can get in the high 70s with any specific resistance (depending on your layers and materials of course). The problem is that double layered Padded will have similar encumbrances to Composite. About the only thing I could suggest is making low enc energy layers (mine come out about 2/2/2 with 5%energy) and making a set of Composite with that, then praying for an enc slice. I imagine that you could get a set made/sliced and have around 400costs. Or you could just make energy layered Padded and do the same. the durability will be lower, but Padded is the best looking suit in my book (minus helm, of course).

yeah i know that there is now way to add a layer to kashyyykian, and it still comes out with stats compared to ubese, though why is it not compared to that??
Because it is a clone of Chitin armor as it has the exact same vulnerabilities, and no additional layers can be added.
