So I've been using /mailsave pretty consistently since mid November, and was looking at my sales data and thought I'd post it for the sake of comparison for other smiths.
I'm a very high volume smith by my servers standards, so I know these numbers are high compared to most more rational Armorsmiths, but I also wouldn't be surprised if these numbers are well short of some smiths on other servers. My volume feels like a ton of work for me, I can't imagine doing more.
Data between November 15, 2003 and June 6,2004. About 7 months or 204 days.
$348,000,000 in armor sales
$250,000,000 of resources sold to my vendors by my suppliers.
1382 Unique customers.
5153 Total purchases made.
Avg customer made 3.7 purchases
Max purchases by one customer 54
Avg customer spent $252,686 credits.
Largest customer spent $4,581,500 credits.
Best selling armor:
1069 full-suits of kinetic layered Ubese (Priced between $150,000 - $175,000)
729 full-suits of unlayered composite (Priced between $150,000 - $200,000).

On paper I made about $100 million during that period. In reality I added far less to my bank account (gifts, personal purchases, skill-tapes, etc..). The profitability of my business is much higher than $100 million in that much of the $250 million I spent on resources is still a valuable asset I have in storage, only a small portion of the resources were used in the production of armor.
This data only counts sales that took place on my vendors (some percentage of my business is done via trades, which are not captured here). I should get better about putting all transactions through the vendors.
My business partner is an equally popular Weaponsmith, we share customer lists. When we add all the unique names from his list to mine, we end up with about 3000 unique customers, which means that he has probably 2X to 2.5X as many customers as I do. He also runs his business more profitably, although I own significantly more resources than he does (about 75 million units). Demand on our server for armor is very high, I could sell far more if I made more product. I could also charge more, and pay less for resources, if I really wanted. My business uses about 30 lots (18 factories, the rest is storage), from my smith and two alts.
For those that are interested in looking at your own stats, you can use the /mailsave command to store all your e-mails on your hard-drive. You can then use SWGMerchantEmailProcessing (http://www.thedotcommakesitfunny.com/swg/) to read all the e-mails and convert them into a .xml file that can be loaded into MS Excel. A pivot table in Excel can give you most of the above data.

thanks for the information, I am a relatively "new" smith, (been in business since january, only really started to take off in march). I am finaly to the point where I have a stockpile of resources to do larger runs, and a very decent amount of "server best" key resources stockpiled do to some friendly shifts and alot of time on the trade forums buying.
good to see other smiths ratios on costs vs sales. looks like i am about on track.

Anyone here that can tell me how to import the data into a Pivot table successfully.
All I get is bad data messages and such.
