Thread: Is wookie/ithorian armor profitable?

Is wookie/ithorian armor profitable for a starting smith? Right now I cant really craft composite cause im still waiting for some resources, But If I wanted to try and craft ithorian and wookie armor would it be profitable (10 point smith)

I get almost no orders from Ithorians, so I dont stock it.
I produce composite/chitin/padded also, so I usually have some segments spare and can make an ith suit when required.
Wookies on the other hand, there is a good starting niche.
Thats how I got started as armorsmith. One piece of advice though - take some time to gather up the needed creature resources, there are lots of named resources neccesary to produce good Wookie armor, and good named reources dont spawn that often.

I'll give you a ballpark answer based on my business.
Excluding custom orders for stun armor, for every 4 mill of comp i sell, i sell 1 mill of ithy and 1 mill of wook hunting. This is based on my PvE armor that is stocked on the vendors pretty much constantly. I was very surprised that as much ithy would sell as wook...

I've stocked Ithorian armor since it came out, and it barely sells, if at all. Going to stick to just custom orders on it. Wookiee armor sells well though I hear. Lots of wookiees out there and they need that armor.

Im the only supplier of wookiee armor on the server pretty much. I can sell 50 suits in a weekend at 500k

yeah I sell wookie armor pretty well, and I sell mine at 300k a suit. Ith armor I haven't gotten into even though it's the same as comp armor. I will eventually get around to making a vendor for it when I can free one up, but atm I just don't have the time.

If the customer could change the colors on the Ith armor, then I think sales would go up a little. Other than that, I think there is only a handful of them on each server. Not enough to justify stocking it on a vendor.

Well, I've done several things to advertise the fact that I make Ithorian and Wookie hunting armor. I pretty much sell comp though since that is what I stock. I only stock that since they colors can be changed on it, but I advertise the fact that I sell other things via custom orders with little signs or suits of the armor next to my vendor.
It just hasn't been a big source of profit to me. I've sold maybe one ithorian suit since it wasdebugged and a couple of wookie hunting suits. I've sold maybe a couple dozen suits of ubese and its all been custom made... but my main source of income is PvE comp armor and some PvP armor... plus swoops, powerups, and PSGs.They just don't seem like a big market to me on my server, but then again, once you are known for making somethingreally well, that's what you'll sell.
If you want to make ithy and wookie armor and be profitable, then you'll have to advertise alot.

I have a vendor stocked with several hundred pieces of ith armor, but I agree it sells slow... At least I do not have to re-stock it often.... As the resources are identical to comp I see no point in not selling it, no extra hassle.

Wookiee Armor is my top seller by far. I typically make 40 suits every week and it typically lasts 24-48 hours on the vendor depending on if I stock during the week or on the weekend. I take a lot of custom orders for different colors and resist set-ups. I have only had two orders for Ithorian Armor since it was introduced.

I'm still a pretty new 11pt armorsmith on my server. Trying to get into the competition by offering pretty decent prices on my armor, since it's not completely competitive with the richer folk. Most of my composite ends up being 80%kin/80%elect and 67%base unsliced. Using pretty much high quality materials to make it, unfortunately lately the slices I'm getting are either mosty encumberance or just really low, making it at best 87% base resist. But I've been selling them for around 20-30k helmet, 20-40k chestplate, etc. Selldecent amount, but so far best day has been 170k worth. Unless you count a special order of 20 suits, which brought me about 2million. Did have a couple people order multiple sets of Ithorian Sentinel armor though, same stats as my composite, sliced for about 100k a complete suit. Like I said, just trying to build a bit of a customer base. Then gradually perhaps raise my prices with the supply/demand. But there will stlil be a limit to what I charge. Sorry, got a bit off topic with that.

Dang, Zeferoth, I didn't even notice it was you posting this! As for wookie, it's a pain. Not sure how everyone gathers their advanced segment components from dath (like wood) and such, but I'm not enjoying that part one bit. Resource requirements are tough for this. I did finally find Mythra Copper though.... Step #1, eh?
