Placement has a lot to do with it if you are not a name brand on your server.
I started off in Kaadara on Naboo near the 'Ring' around the greenspace. I later placed a second location near Anchorhead to piggyback off the traffic of a popular weaponsmith that was there. The area between Anchorhead and Bestine have always been good merchant areas. Any good spot around Coronet (perhaps not so much now since you can jump planets), or Theed is a plus. If you specialize in low end, low cost armor, Mos Eisley or any newbie city is a good traffic area.
If you have a city near the Krayt graveyard on your server, that also is a good area for armor foot traffic.
I've heard good stories from people selling on Dantooine.

If your have made a name for yourself, people will come to you, otherwise I'd say drop a shop where the hunters are. I had one outside coronet and sells were ok... Moved it to outside the MO and sales boomed.. on Flurry the MO is where most hunters go to grind, so convience is the order of the day.
