Thread: New Armorsmith looking for Tips to Stand out/shop locations
Like Palm Beach on Naboo, FarStar server.
It does help alot.
I know that most of the time, if I'm looking for something I'll start looking there.
Also, a thing that might be a good idea is build stuff that the other don't build.
Like advanced bone armor, mara and chitin near a newbie city (also, with selling those, the most important is not to have accurate price, but a good price scale, it will make them come back once they have the money to have just better armor).
If you keep your vendor well stocked and spent a few time in the city advertising for it ot the newbie, you'll build a good customer base quite fast.

I started out as an AS and had a shop near Theed and another one in a not too crowded player city (Where I live). But on Kauri we have a wonderful player city on Dantooine that has huge traffic. It's called Ataxia and it's very near the mining outpost, and has the Improved Job Market perk, so everyone hunts from there. I set up my armor biz there and now I have to work full time to keep the vendor stocked. I also sell my Master Artisan friend's repair kits and powerups there, and she does very well for herself mastering a badic prof ![]()
I haven't invested much into word of mouse, but definitely get Merchant and Advertising 3 to get on the map, not so much for the search on the big map, but more so that passersby see the name of your shop on the overhead map (Now that it actually works!)
Other than that, sell good stuff. If you think it's sub-par, sell it for sub-par prices. On Kauri Ubese is generally about 70-75 Kinetic. I started out making 64 Kinetic and trying to sell it for the same price as the higher stuff, which didn't work. I reduced the price 30% and sold out. The point is, make sure you price for what you have, don't try to sell for more justifying that someone can easily make more than 100K on your armor, so why not sell your 60% Ubese for 100K? That theory only works if you're the only AS around.
Another huge thing, for repeat business, is always have stock. Not only will you always be selling armor, and making good money, but someone who checks your vendor often and always sees stock will know that you are reliable, and will continue to use you as well as refer others to you. A lot of the older Ubercrafter 12 point smiths with all the best resources just aren't keeping regular people armor in stock, since it's just as much of a hassle to make as making multi-million cred custom orders. I do very well as a 10 pointer, because I run armor very often (Except now, my comp vendor is a bit low, damn PvP ![]()
Good luck, it's lots of fun
