Thread: Will work for armor

Im not cheap. But I do not want to live on the Auction forum to afford an armor. Also, I take alot of pride in chasing down my own components, so that's what I always did. It also offers me something to do in the game.

Now I wonder if I can do the same for Armor. I know what slice components I need, so I am already in the process of chasing them down, but I was also thinking if I could reduce my price for armor by chasing down and providing an armorsmith with good components.

I ama Master Doctor/Master Combat Medic/Master Medic that will use this armor primarly for large scale pvp. My character is therefore only efficient in using Battle Armor. I wont be able to afford ADK's for the entire set, but I will store the armor safely in a droid while not using it.

I consider Padded armor ugly, and I am often poked fun of becouse I look like a smurf ^_^

I dislike Marouder armor as well, as it makes me look like barbarian

So what I am thinking of is R.I.S or Factional Armor.

What I want to ask is:

1. Is R.I.S still a major job to put together? The advantage I see with R.I.S is that I do not need to be Combatant to use it. But if R.I.S takes alot of work it might not be worth it since its not my main character we talk about.

2. Is there any loot components or anything else resourcewise I can go out there and collect myself to reduce the price?

Not a major job to put together. But if you hunt for the 9(each of)GDK scales, woolamander harrower bone fragments and Gurk King hides an armoursmith should only charge you for the cores.

Also you could pick up some health enhancers if you want. Peko Peko feathers are some of the better things to grab. as you only need 1 per piece, no matter which piece.

There's a guide to RIS in the FAQs. The creature loot is what makes RIS expensive. Otherwise it is no different or harder to make that regular battle armor except for its much higher condition. Getting your own loot (7 to 9 gurk king hides, woolamander harrower bone shards, giant dune kimogila scales) cuts most of the expense out of RIS.

For Armor:
* 7x Giant Dune Kimogilascales
* 7x Woolamander harrower bone fragments
* 7x Gurk King hides
* 7x Peko Peko feathers (optional)

For Slice:
* 7x shock absorbant padding
* 7x reactive micro plating

Is this correct for a R.I.S? (I am guessing that theese pieces wont be needed for boots/gloves as thoose are just for looks)

I am guessing that Advanced Battle Cores from Kimogila or Gorax is not used?

Is this what's used for Faction Armor as well?

Is this correct for a R.I.S? (I am guessing that theese pieces wont be needed for boots/gloves as thoose are just for looks) Even though they are just for looks, they are still needed to make the appearance...you only need seven feathers though for health optional health enhancements (they cannot be used on gloves and boots).

I am guessing that Advanced Battle Cores from Kimogila or Gorax is not used? You can use them if you want, but an AS will make cores with better resists...that's up to you.

Is this what's used for Faction Armor as well? No, Faction armor doesn't require loot, it just requires faction points so that the armorsmith can buy the schematic from a recruiter. From there, they are made just like any other amor.

So if I go for Faction Armor I cannot improve it further with loot?

Not really, you only can add health enhancers to any armor (including factional), but there is no loot involved otherwise. You can find an armorsmith that is willing to layer the armor how you like, but that's resoure based, not loot based, so there's not much you can do to help him out (except for maybe some resource deeds!)

indeed. And personally if your going into PvP I tend to suggest to fokl they go with primus layered instead of energy layered battle armor. For the simple reason that while many people seem to scorn them. Pistoleers in PvP or a rifleman with a kinetic rifle can royally bugger up your day if your energy layered. Especially if your using energy layered recon (As the kinetic resists go abismally low and dispite what folk seem to think. Kinetic pistols and a good pistol template have ALOT of damage output).

I tend to run about (If perhaps only due to template restrictions) in assault armor. And while I may take abit more damage from energy weapons as a result. I've found more than once it's been paid off for when some rifleman with a kinetic rifle or some pistoleer or BH template with a kinetic gun (FWG5 or scatter pistol) has started blazing away at me. They dont do half the damage they do to my fellows wearing energy armro for starters. Alot of folk also overlook the fact that kinetic weapons totally bypass PSGs as they only stop energy resists.

So thats why I recommend to those wearing battle armor to go primus layered if they layer at all. But to each their own of course.

Yeah, My server is practically PvP only and the demand is for the primus except for an occasional Jedi Hunter. I think people are figuring it out. (Which is too bad, because my energy layers are some of the best on the server, but my primus is severly lacking ).

The folk of Bria still dont seem to. Alot of my guildmates still swear by energy resists. But then. Perhaps Ic ant blame them since over half the people you fight in PvP on Bria are... Guess what?

Jedi.

Prime example. Yesterday I was in a group of 6 people. 2 of us were not jedi. Out of a group of 10 that we fought. 3 were not jedi. So I can see where their thinking comes from. Yet to be honest. I've found I tend to last as well as any other non jedi in PvP even though I'm using assault armor. Thus why I tend to recommend primus layers. And I'd certainly never recommend Kinetic layers for a PvP suit. Allways energy or primus depending. (And pretty much allways energy layers for a BH suit for Jedi hunting)

Good point...Bloodfin has their Jedi, but we have a great mix of regular proffs in there too. A more balanced armor is definately warrented.

Quickly estimated, when it comes to pvp, I would say that4 out of5 people on Corbantis are Jedi... if even that. Although I might need a second look to verify...
