I am starting to get back into making armorfor the first time post CUand I have some questions regarding PSG.

1.) What do the different values mean? Also what is the significance to the number at the top of the item icon? When unequiped its at 1 and when its equiped it approached 100.

2.) Can you still place an ADK on them so it lasts forever?

3.) What makes the condition drop? Since it is energy based protection, does kinetic damage destroy the condition or is it the damage that is mitigated from energy attacks?

4.)As an armorsmith, what are some of the characterisitcs that is best to experiment on?

Thanks and sorry for the n00b questions.

I'll take a run at this. Any corrections or clarifications are welcome.

1) The little number in the upper right corner is the PSG's efficiency or how charged up it is. As it takes hits, the PSG is drained, blocking less and less damage as the efficiency drops. As it recharges (how fast is controlled by the recharge rate), the efficiency and resists go back up, and the PSG loses some condition.

2) I think the answer to this is no. But there's really no point in doing this. The PSG will still discharge and the resists would still drop in a firefight. You just wouldn't lose any condition as it recharges. You could buy a lot of PSG for the price of an ADK.

3) The condition is supposed to drop a little each time the PSG recharges. So it is not losing condition from the damage it is taking directly. Only ranged energy damage is mitigated by the PSG. Kinetic weapons and melee energy weapons bypass PSGs entirely.

4) As a 12 point smith, I could max out my Mark III PSGs at a little over 2000 with 8 points using very good resources. I divided the extra four points, putting two in recharge and two in condition. Upon reflection, I think I would get my resists to 2000 (or whatever your resources allow) and then dump the rest of the points into recharge and not worry about condition. People are buying protection and a fully discharged PSG is no help in a fight. They can always buy another one from you.

PSGs were bugged so that they wouldn't recharge until you logged for a while. This has been fixed, and from posts I've read from combatants, a high recharge rate makes a difference in a fight.

thanks for the answers.

does that imply that the number at the top left is a percentage of maximum protection? so if you have 2000 energy resist and if the recharger is at 50 or 50%, does that mean you currently have 10000 energy resist (2000 x 0.50)?

also how do you interpret the recharge rate number that you experiment on? obviously, the higher the better but what does it mean exactly? i guess i am wondering if its possible to get the recharge high enough where the energy resists never ever goes down. as an example (not sure if its possible) would be to have a 1000 energy resist PSG with a 100 recharge rate versus a 2000 energy resist with a 50 recharge rate. the former would be for those that seek good consistent protection while the latter would be for those that seek high protection during the initial attacks with lower protection afterwards.
