Thread: An idea to make armor stocking and crafting less tedius

Today i was putting 78 sets of armor in bags to be put on my vendor. To do that i had to use the *get item from crate* command 936 times (including the bags) and then drop the 858 armor parts into the bags.

While doing that i came up with an idea to make it much less tedius, and should even be easy to implement.

Simply give us schematics for whole suits of armor, that the customer can then take apart, like the old wookiee armor chest plates. should be easy to implement since the code is allready there.

It should take the same amounts of resources, but shouldnt be able to take enhancers. Example. composite suit :put 300 wooly 280 inert 11 cores 11 synth cloth, 11 RFP in a factory and out comes a crated full suit of composite armor.

This has several advantages both for the AS and his customers.

1.makes oneof the most borring aspects of crafting armor much less borring and tedius.

2. saves storage in houses, vendors and backpack space

3. the customer can actually see what he is buying since it isnt in a bag

4. no need to experiment 7 times on the same suit to get the exact same stats.

5. much more easy to organise crafting

6. we wouldnt need so many factories.

I cant really come up with any drawbacks, but feel free to point them out to me

as it is now you risk having some parts not coming up bad, so you cut the risk... i thik they would frown on that. And they would prolly point out that it "would be too easy"

whistle while you work?

What I do when I have to put a lot of suits on a vendor is use shortcut keys.

1)First I get all the stuff out to put into the bag. I use a combination of a right-click and the number 1, which will get item from crate. Goes pretty fast and you don't even need to wait for the radial menu to finish loading.

2)Have my paste command on an easy key sequence and just click on the bag and paste the name.

3)Still have no better way of getting the armor into the bag than drag and drop. Here's a vote for multiple item selection for selling items and for moving them. I'd love to see this system implemented.

Hope that helps.

Exactly it would be somewhat like the Jedi population. Make it tooo easy and everyone would do it. No more profit in being an armorsmith because everyone would have one. No need to run off suits anymore because you are just making them for your friends.

Dragging and dropping items and pulling stuff from crates is nither hard nor easy, its just time consuming. As for making the final combine itself and experimenting on7 pieces of armor with the exact same resourcesand have between 3 and 4 ponits left on every piece has nothing to do with skill ither, just another thing that takes time.

I allso fail to see why it would be a bad thing if there where more AS, there are few enough crafters as it is. Most give up when they cant get all the named resources anyway.

Oh. and thanks to Capt and clockwerg for the good tips, will some me a lot of time

my suggestion for making stocking less tedious.... don't sell in packs. I never liked this idea, I have 3 vendors... 1 for each type of armor, I sell indivudial pieces and it sells well. To me you limit your customers buying options when you only sell in packs. they can't replace a bracer or pants, they have to buy a whole suit.

PLus you have to sit there and do all that extra work your talking about. The only thing I sell in packs is layered armor, which I'm too cheap to factory run, and with that I just copy and paste the names into the pack

I like (well, liked) to put a crate of each piece on my hotkeys bar. I also used crated pre-named packs so I stick one of those crates on there as well. Then, press all your F keys and drag the pieces in. That's not as good as your suggestion but it's what worked for me til they broke the factory ran armors' color.

ever try just double clicking the crate to pull a piece out by chance? Much faster that way.

Also when I'm bagging my suits, I'll prep 6 bags and name them then find 1 of the crates and pull 6 pieces out load into bags and move onto the next crate. Once a bag has a full suit in it I'll put it up for sale on my vendor and rinse and repeat til there's not a full suit left.

This way I know exactly where I'm at and dont miss any pieces being placed into bags as well as just the simplicity of it all.
