I didnt know that being an AS would be such a pain in the rear end. All the other parts needed, killing high lvl things for parts, certain types of recources of great quality...geesh.
I want to give it a try. But i have no idea what to make first. I want to make Padded Armor. Can someone help push me into the right direction?
Thanks for any help.
IGN is Booomer on the Ahazi Server.

the way it goes
layers -> segments -> cores -> final appearance
for a starter your best off skipping layers, and making a segment, and then use basic or standard cores unless you have all the named resources for the advanced, and then plonk it into the appearance.
When making leg's, chest or helms you'll need to use factory runs' as they require identical component's

that sig is way to complicated for these forums
to start you need to make segments 3 segments go into a core then 11 cores go into a full set of armour
to make segments and cores you need a factory because you need the same serial number for some pieces of armour
advanced is the hardest but only way to go

ok im understanding the steps on what to make first. Now the next question is, is there an easy way to find certain resources? Like Perovskitic Aluminum and the other special ones. Or do i have to hit each planet and survey aluminum until that name or type comes up? Also, will a spawn of each type needed always be around (even if the quality is crappy)?
Oh, and are armor experi tapes as costly as chef was, 1mil per +1?

1. What stats so i need to make sure are always high. OQ, UT, SR......?
2. And What is best to play with when using experimentation points?

on segs and cores you need a high oq and sr and on the final combine you need oq dr and sr
dont bother with condition to the final combine

Armorsmith is all about patience and resource management. When you respec, you get the experimentation points, but you don't get anything else. Now I'm not saying that all us established smiths are geniuses: making unlayered armor just ain't all that complicated. But we have been around long enough to wait for good resources to spawn, and we've figured ways to get large quantities of them. That's all there is to establishing yourself as a competitive smith--time. Unless you have scads of cash and top resources are available for sale on your server, you'll have to wait three to four months to collect everything you need at a decent quality.
Now when you've done that, you can worry about things like resource caps, layers, RIS, and the other things that will put you among the elite smiths of your server.
If I wanted to be a smith in the post CU world, I think I'd get master rifles, 0440 bounty hunter (for specials and mods), artisan 0004, and 0040 scout and just hunt and survey for a while. Once you had 10 million units of a good variety of resources, start dropping stuff and grinding armorsmith. You can sell some of your resources to support yourself.
Of course, you're already a master AS so I might just be talking to myself
.
Oh, and read this forum religiously. There's good info here. I lurked for about six months before I started posting.

For resources I do a search on www.swgcraft.com for the top 3 or 4 resources ever to spwan.... then I spend hours infront of the Bazzar searching through pages and pages of resources. I almost alwasy find what I'm looking for. If your rich beyond all my wildest dream... resource kits are a dream....
As for making it easy I picked one type of armor (maurder first cause I thought it looked the best), then scoured the Galaxy for the recources. I can now make pretty sweet battle armor (not sever best but it makes my guild happy hehe), now I'm on the quest for everything to make assult cores.
I would also sugest making friends with your faction so they can grind you the faction points for the faction armors, or grind out master pilot so you can earn it in Deep Space.
