What is restraint damage?
Restraint damage is an old damage type that does not exist in the game.Sometimes itappears when examining armor or creatures- thisis simply the base effectivenessand appears because all categories that are not vulnerabilities are listed. You will not find anything with restraint special protection or vulnerability and there are no weapons that ever use this damage type. Whilesome people may remember that the stat-shifted PSG's and armors sometimes showed Restraint as a vulnerabilities- this was a consequence of the stat shift bug itself.
Edit: to make this a bit clearer, this is an answer to a question. The above passage describes what restraint damage is. It's basically an unused damage typethat was cut during beta.

Force damage? My theory is its something that got cut during beta but not removed, like the industrialist exp from using factories.

No, force powers are not restraint damage. Restraint damage is not currently used by anything in the game.

Actually I was told once that Restraint damage is caused by moves such as the old pre-nerf Warcry an the Smugglers Panic shot or Wild shot whatever its called. Basically Restraint damage pauses your characters next action by a certain amount. Creatures with high Restraint resists were supposed to feel little effect from those kinds of specialattacks. Seems like the Devs realized those abilities were a little overpowering though an are sort of pushing them out of the game. I think the Glop Grenade may have been one of the few actual weapons origionally intended to use that damage type.

Restraint is one of the two base resists on Bone Armor (the other is Electric). I heard that in the Smuggler revamp that Smugglers would get a cert for a restraint damage weapon (I guess it's more along the lines of dirty fighting).
Who knows though since the Smuggler revamp is very vague and pushed back...

Wait wait, I thought some scout traps used restraint damage? Adhesive Mesh maybe... not sure if thats the one that deals small amounts of damage over time while holding the target, or if I'm getting mixed up with another trap.. but I was pretty sure of this.
