Thread: Low Segments please look at my resources

Hi,
I have been trying to crest 900 with my segments since I got master armorsmith couple of weeks back and cant break 855. I have a list of the resources I am currently using can someone tell me where I need to improve?
Battle Segments
Steel 920 OQ 950 SR
Aluminum 964 OQ 679 SR
Inert Petrochem 985 OQ 464 SR
Wooly 983 OQ 963 SR
I have seen several post where people are saying they get over 900 and up to 940's - 950's so my question is what kind of resources are you guys working with? Or do I need to add layers?
Thanks any input would help.
Very simple, get better resources. Polyerm is the most important since it makes up 15 out of 35 units of the segment. Get better polymer with higher sr. Your steel and hide are fine. Next improve your aluminium, again higher sr.
To break 900, you need you sr+q/2 average to be over 900 across your resources.

Thanks for the input, I search through all that was for sale this morning and that was the best available for sale on my server. I will have to keep an eye out and when it shows up on the vendors hop on it.
no problem, make sure you take account of the average of q and sr when you work out which polymer is better. For instance, 800q 800 sr is better than 900 q 600 sr.
Polymer is probably the most important resource post CU in terms of hitting the caps on unlayered armor since it has such a big impact on segments and is used in layers and some cores.

Here is how much each of your resources cost you on your segmentsas opposed to "perfect" resources (i.e. 1000/1000)
Steel: 16.7
Aluminum: 18.1
Polymer: 106.3
Wooly: 3.5
Add these all together, and you get ~145... the amount you are short of "perfect" 1000 point segments. As mentioned above, and shown here, your only real problem is your Polymer. To get to 900 segments, you will need to find polymer that has OQ+SR values of at least 1680 when added together. This could be 840/840 or 900/780, or whatever.
you will be amazed hom much difference comes from 100-200 points of OQ or SR. PLus make sure to get your inspiration buff and munch some Pyollian first. those extra points in assembly help tons in segments.
Oh how I wish I had seen this thread before the past couple of hours searching vendor locations and coming up with 860ish segments. ![]()
I just started up the factory on my first run of segs 3 mins before shutdown....
I didn't know about the food thing mentioned and didnt know the insp. buff would help that much.
I'm glad I cought it now instead of after the resources were chewed up though.
Wasn't my thread but thank you all who replied, very much.

Can you clarify here? Are you suggesting you see a higher experimentation result that exceedx what your resources should be capable of when you use a buff and pyollian? This is certainly not how I see things.
My understandingand experienceis that an inspiration buff and pyollian or the experimentation drinkare only going to give you a better chance of a decent assembly or experiment. None of these things will allow you to exceed the Q+SR stats on your resources unless you get a critical success which is very very rare and is more common with fs crafting skills.
Th assembly bonus just determines the starting point of your experimentation. If you are a 12 point smith then you don't have to worry about this, but as a starting out smith this +10/+14 (+24) bonus can make it just a bit easier to make sure you get the best segments. I myself have had several times where a segment came out at 20 points different either way with the same resources. I could never figure it out until I started paying close attention to assembly rolls. In the end a great assembly is not as good as an amazing. and when you are trying to get just from 860-880 to 900 this little bit can help alot.
Short answer, the level of your succes in assembly determines the starting percentage of the experimentation.
If I am wrong here please clarify for us noobs

This is correct, it does make a small difference if you get a great or amazing assembly, however, it does not alter your endpoint. This is governed by the stats on your resources and how well your experimentation goes. You will only ever need 10 points of great experimentation to reach the endpoint even with perfect resources.
Each point of a great success experiment adds 7%, each point of an amazing experiment adds 8%. This is the reason why amazing experiments are so useful. If you get a 7 point amazing experiment then you have one point of experimentation spare compared to a great success and can spend that elsewhere. Of course, there is no where else to spend it ![]()
You will start with somewhere around 26-29% after assembly. Spending 10 points with great experimentation successes will give you another 70%. Add this to 26-29% and you will be at 96-99%, thats of course if your resources would not cap you first, this would represent a 960-990 Q+SR/2 average across all your segment resources.
This is exactly why many pre CU armorsmiths are annoyed given they spent a lot on experimentation tapes, with only one line to experiment at most stages, there is now no difference between a 10 and 12 point smith. The condition line at the segment and core stage does not sem to make much of a difference if as a 12 pointer you have a few points spare to throw in it.
