Thread: I'm just gonna be MAS make some RIS and Faction get rich and dump it....

Do you hear this from other players?

Sorry, was reading the thread about how one new smith to the board is surprised by the resources needed and how difficult AS really is. Reminded me of a jedi I met recently who just unlocked. His grand plan was toget his new unlock to MAS "really quickly" then just make a few RIS and Faction armor make tons of money and then dump MAS for a combat class he'd like to play.

I was both dismayed by the magnitude of his miscomprehension of how "easy" armorsmithing is, and entertained by the thought of what a wake up call he'll get once he spent the resources and time to grind it to find it wasn't so easy afterall.

I know that MAS was harder pre cu as in you had to use more brain power as to what exp pts you applied, but it still isn't a simple prof, and it cracks me up when people ingame think it's just a matter of placing some harvesters and using your crafting tool.

I suppose if you have the money/FP to invest in it and the ability to both grasp the complexity of the various types of cores and layers *and* the resources required, you could turn it around. Otherwise, they are definitely underestimating just how much work and skill is involved.

I respecced to AS post-CU and have since sunk a Big Fat Wad into it and I'm still not server best--or stocking RIS (special orders only) or making factional. More luck to them.

That's what's great about the game. If armorsmith looks like an easy path to riches, anyone can give it a try. I've seem a lot of would-be smiths come and go since the CU. I don't mind if people think my profession is easy: they can pay my prices or try it themselves .

Pykescylla, off topic, your sig disturbs me. I really hope you don't cancel everything!!!! You've been a great source of info for me, and you're articulate and polite, that's hard to come by. I would be very sad to see you go

Yeah i realised that i spent alot of creds on armour, so i made an alt to be a master armoursmith. This was pre CU, since then i have become obsessed with it and only now am making quality RIS and factional armour. i dont really mass produce and only really make for myself and guildies yet i have pumped a shed load of creds and time into getting where i am today. More than i ever would have if i had just carried on buying it

I'm afraid it's all cancelled. Aug 22 will be my last day for a while. I plan to check back in December. I do, however, reserve the right to a grand goodbye post in a couple weeks.

And call me Pyke. Pykescylla makes me sound like a giant lizard rampaging through Tokyo .

Don't know if you were speaking of me but I will reply to it. Being a Master shipwright I look at the resources to Master Armorsmith and litteraly I laughed. After as a new player to the game trying to find well over 2 mil steel then slowly decreasing ammounts of Iron Fiberplast Ore and so on Armorsmith was a true joy to shop for.

As for this I have Masterd Shipwright and Artisan Played with Musician till I had researched the other crafts and truely KNEW what I wanted to craft. Yes I had an expectation in mind of the range of XP I would get and was disabuse quickly of it.

As far as the complexity of AS it is comprable to Shipwright and that makes me really happy.

All in all I wont be a regular whiner here I happen to like the game and its crafting system and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to

take the time to try it and if it doesnt suit you change to something that will.

For me, the most difficult part of getting my armorsmith business going was finding decent resources. You simply cannot go out and buy the resources you need, in the qualities you need. If anybody has the good stuff stockpiled, they aren't selling. You have to wait for everything to turn over enough times so that you can gather them yourself.

A small portion of math for this misguided flashlight fool: cheap faction points-75cpu, 84k faction points=6million+, cost per faction piece 3000, 84k divided by 3000=28, 2 3/4 factional suits = about 3.8 million per suit in cost, average cost of factional suit - 1.5 million......good luck to him

P.S. I know my math sucks but you get the idea. (plus I don't even know if the factional armor costs the same now)

Yes...the semi annoying part about crafting is you end up becoming a Master Surveyer in the process...I wonder if we could get a badge now. How about another badge...Master Resource shopper, you'd have to frequent every planetary advertised shop that says "resources" to get it. I think I qualify!

Ugh..

They really need to add filtering for types of resources. Instead of having to look through EVERY mineral when your shopping for Phrik Aluminum.

And the cost... whew.. I'm down to a barc speeder to sell for resources lol.

They put in a filter option on the lower right hand corner of the Bazaar Ui. Try a "Vendor Locations" search on the entire galaxy and type "aluminum" into the filter. You may have to scour all the aluminums to find the good Phrik, but you needn't look through ALL the minerals.
