Where's the tread explaining the different types of armor and why is it not stickied?
Iam sure that some motivated AS somewhere has made a thread showing the different types of new armor and what is the best features about each. Surely someone has posted a color pallet for armor somewhere.
I have a new BH. Actually been master BH since before the CU, but only recently started hunting Jedi. I am currently running around in Padded Armor that I bought of some random vendor somewhere. I would, however, like to now procure the best possible armor for my chosen profession.
I would like to go with RIS, but i do not want to sacrifice protection for cosmetics. I plan on ADK'ing this armor and placingattachments in it. I want to know what would be the very best protection for the following conditions:
- My template is Master Bounty Hunter, Master Carbineer, and Combat Medic 4000.
- I will only be hunting Jedi so energy protection is my primary concern.
- I would like to know which armor is best suited for my needs.
- How many sockets can I expect to have.
- I would like to see a color pallet if possible to select the colors of my new armor.
Any help with being able to make an educated purchase would be apreciated.
Thank you

Most of the information you want is in the stickies. It's in the Consumer Guide.

The three types of armor are fairly equivalent now. Any advantage against one damage type is offset by a weakness versus another. The same holds true with adding layers to an armor; to add protection from one type of damage, you'll be forced to sacrifice protection against another.
That said, energy-layered recon armor is popular for hunting jedi. You can get energy resistance above 8000, but you will sacrifice kinetic protection, which will be below 4000. So you'd better hope they can't pull a berserker or FWG. Primus-layered RIS would also be a good choice with energy and kinetic protection of around 6500. With primus layers, you sacrifice elemetal protection, but no one seems to be too worried about it.
Anyway, if you look at the chart that converts these four-digit numbers to percentage of damage blocked, you will see there's not a big difference between 6000 protection and 8000. It's a system of dimishing returns: the higher the numbers get, the less difference there is in the protection.

Here's a link to colors (courtesy of ravingbantha):

You can have four sockets in each peice except for boots and gloves that now have no sockets at all.
