a lot of you already know this, some don't
a lot understand this some don't
when calculating what the final resists are, a lot of people think that the best way to tell is to add +400 to whatever the core is.
if your core would hit the unlayered cap, the resists cap and then calculate layers.
so..if you hit the cap with say, 935 resist segments, and have the resources to get them up to 950, don't. It will cap you either way, even if you add layers.
a little example:
using 935 battle segments (x3) and excellent resources you are able to cap battle armor at 6000 resists.
using different resources on segments to push you up to 950 resists segments (x3) you get the exact same 6000 resist final product.
adding layers only adds to the resists above the cap. So if you first core using the 935 battle segments was 5600, and you are capping at 6000, if your quad layered primus armor adds 500, you get 6500 resist final product.
but if you use 950 segments to make 5750 cores (will cap you at 6000) and +500 from primus layers you do not get the (5750+400 from final combine) + 500 from layers. You only get 6500 resits stuff like in the first batch
in summary, if you are capping your armor, you do NOT need to use better resources in your segments or in final combine. The way the system is, is to do the bare minimum because anything above and beyond that is just lost. you do however want to use best possible resources in layers, because they are only boung by resources not by caps.

I think I made this because the term "unlayered cap" is quite deceptive. I myself am quite guilty of using this term. The cap is there even with layers.
Also, on a side note: If you add one primus layer in a core (as apposed to 12) you can not break the unlayered cap. It caps even with layers (adding one +40 primus layer to a 5800 battle core makes 6040 battle armor not 6240)
My dream was to use all my left over stun layers that are now +/- 0 kinetic layers on my 5780 battle cores and use them to break the "unlayered cap" till I realized that it is a hard cap with or without layers
O well, so much for being creative.

The Term unlayered Cap and layer cap would be used because they are two different things...
Battle armor unlayer cap - 6000 primus layered cap 6600....
recon armor unlayered cap 7000 primus layered cap 7600...
all in the notes... including if you go beyond 5600 on you battle armor segments + cores when layering you won't cap you layers because you won't get +400

one main point was that people upgrade their resources for segments and see no improvements in their layered armors
using bare minimun is just as good as higher quality

i find that when i was able to upgrade resources on my segments i could use lower quality resources that i have much more of on my cores
