They are Lvl 81.

They spawn all over Lok but you might be lucky near the volcano. They randomly disappear while fighting sometimes, so don't be surprised (one more bug here).

Has any one else noticed that these guys drop 'Kimogila Scales' and not 'Giant Dune Kimogila Scales' sometimes. Me and a mate were out hunting these the other day and we only got Kimo Scales We were *definitely* hunting GDK's and not the other types - was very disappointed

Yes, they can drop Kimogila Scales as well as GDK scales. But regular kimo scales aren't completely useless like they used to be. If you get ones that have +10 or better health they can be fairly useful in armor crafting.

they are *WAY* more common now then before CU. Like almost insanely more common...

Well, even the +6 ones can be useful at times (like when you're using +14 FAE's and 2 x +15 Scales).

Go to the Kimo Town. If you don't see any there, head towards the volcano. You'll find more Kimos as you get closer to the volcano. If you start seeing a few spawns close to each other, search a wider area as you head towards the volcano.

Search around the volcano in the south. I always find some when I search there.

good way to find GDKs is at the kimotown POI on lok. one spawns there every 15 min or so and does drop the right scales, occasionally

Hello,

The Giant Dune Kimo Scales can be really hit and miss. Sometimes it can be pretty discouraging, and others it can be fine.

I play on the Flurry server and last week made the effort to get some scales to help a friend get RIS certified and make us each a set of the stuff. His for display in his shop and mine for my alt to use.

I started reading about everything I could find about hunting for the Scales on the Forms on Wednesday last week, then on Thursday started looking on Lok and only managed to find 6 "Giant Dune Kimo's" all together. No scales or loot of any kind on any of them. Friday after work I found 9 and got 1 set of 8 Battle Cores (5432) and 1 set of 11 just Kimo scales (+ 10 to health I think)

Then Saturday I started to get discouraged...it was finaly on my 33rd "Giant Dune Kimo" that I got a set of 8 GDK Scales. Then nothing from the other two in that group. Then the first one in the next group got me a set of 6. Then from the next 2 in the same group nothing, but the last one another set of 8.

( 33 and 0 ) but then ( 3 for 7 )

So I ended up getting what I needed but I know there was someone else out there trying for them as well but he got about the same amount in about 10 or 12 kills, where as it took me about 40 over the course of 3 days.

BUt it all seemed worth it in the end becasue all the GDK scales I could find on any Vendor in the whole Galaxie were 2 million per scale.

Hope any of this helps.

Yeah, drop rates do vary due to the randomness.

You can get 2-3 sets in a row if you're lucky, or have a dry spell that last60-70 kills or even more.

The reason why they are so expensive to begin with is that "most" people have to group for it, spend long hours trying to get a drop, and the buyers are generally the richer class players.
