it was a crate of 30k of resources... that was given as a veteran reward...... they are valuable in the sense that they contain some good stuff... I know people are buying them left and right if they can find them......

The crate of free resources refers to one of the veteran rewards. I do not know when your character becomes eligible for this particular reward, haven't been here myself that long. You get one reward per account, so not one rewardfor each of your 8 characters. Others who have them will correct me if I am wrong, but the free crate lets you have 30 K of any resource that has ever appeared on the appropriate server. You only get to choose once, so choose carefully.

I believe you can also use the crate to look at the available resources on your server, and as long as you don't hit the final selection, you can back out and save the reward crate for another day. (a quick leg up on surveying).

look at find resources feature on www.swgcraft.com to choose what resource you decide to get with your kit although not everything is up to date for every server

and for some twisted reason i couldn't get a particular steel that i know was on ahazi but didn't appear on the resource kit list

I would'nt sugest using the resource kits for swoops. Mainly because you can sell them for 3-4mil. With that money you could go out and buy harvesters and mine 600k of the resource.
