Thread: Another idea for Bio-Mechanical Cartridges

Here's an idea I had for how the devs could impliment bio-mechanical cartridges. The basis for this idea is to have bio-mechanical cartridges serve as a way of adding "gadgets" to armor. We've already seen with the cybernetic limbs and Hero of Tat ring that the devs can attach specials to items. Basically, each bio-mech cartridge would be a device with a special attached to it. A full suit of armor would be able to have seven of these "gadgets" built into it. The down side of using these "gadgets" though, is that each one would add a small movement penalty to the wearer. I would estiamte, that a good penalty amount would be that the total penalty from say three bio-mech controllers would be about the same as the difference in movement penalty between being unarmed and carrying a rifle.


Here's a list of the different bio-mech cartridges I've thought up so far, and ideas on where they should be put into the loot tables...


Plasma Charge Releaser
Special: AOE Dizzy attack with 5 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Trandoshans on Avatar Station in Kashyyyk Space


Photonic Flash Unit
Special: AOE Blind attack with 5 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs in Warren on Dantooine

Sonic Stunner
Special: AOE Stun attack with 5 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Crazed Geonosians in Geonosian Biolab on Yavin


Gravimetric Pulse Projector
Special: AOE Knockdown attack with 5 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Trandoshans in Blackscale Compound on Kashyyyk


Grappling Cord Launcher
Special: 15 second Root attack with 10 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs inside the DWB on Endor


Goo Entangler
Special: 15 second Snare attack with 10 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Gungans on Naboo and Rori


Light Flame Thrower
Special: Cone Fire DOT attack with 10 meter range
Cooldown Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Somewhere on Mustafar


Flechette Scatterer
Special: Cone Bleed DOT attack with 10 meter range
Cool Down Timer: 5 minutes
Loot Location: Marauders on Endor


Spatial Scanner
Special: Chance to reveal stealthed people and objects within 10 meters (Not Cloaked Jedi)
Cooldown Timer: 10 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs on Ryatt Trail on Kashyyyk


Mechanical Movement Enhancer
Special: Reduction in movement penalty for 1 minute
Cooldown Timer: 10 minutes
Loot Location: Nightsister NPCs on Dathomir


Weight Distribution Compensator
Special: +20% Action Regeneration for 1 minute
Cooldown Timer: 10 minutes
Loot Location: High level faction NPCs


Data Organizer
Special: +20% Mind Regeneration for 1 minute
Cooldown Timer: 10 minutes
Loot Location: Tier V Gunboats in space


Bacta Injector
Special: 1500 point heal
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: Singing Mountain Clan NPCs on Dathomir


Rebreather
Special: Does what regular rebreathers do right now
Cooldown Timer: N/A (Always active)
Loot Location: Same place that all rebreathers can currently be looted


Alum Mine Rebreather
Special: Does what gel-pack enhanced rebreathers do right now
Cooldown Timer: N/A (Always active)
Loot Location: Crafted by hand by combining a regular rebreather and a gel-pack


Fire Suppression System
Special: Removes Fire DOT
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: Corvettes in Deep Space and Kessel Space


Auto Restriction Fibers
Special: Removes Bleed DOT
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs in Hutt Hideout on Tatooine


Gyro Stabilizer
Special: Dizzy Recovery (Usefull for players who are low on action or don't have Dizzy Recovery in their template.)
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs at Rouge Corsec Base on Corellia


Vision Correction Circuitry
Special: Blind Recovery (Usefull for players who are low on action or don't have Blind Recovery in their template.)
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs in Lost Auqulish Cave on Talus


Breathing Regulator
Special: Stun Recovery (Usefull for players who are low on action or don't have Stun Recovery in their template.)
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: Tuskens on Tatooine


Projectile Detector
Special: +100 Ranged Defense for 30 seconds
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs on Corellian Corvette


Impact Compesator
Special: +100 Melee Defense for 30 seconds
Cooldown Timer: 3 minutes
Loot Location: NPCs in Crystal Cave on Dantooine


Obviosly, a lot more could be thought up if we wanted, however I think the above list would give a pretty wide variety of enhancers, while at the same time ensuring that there's no one single combination that everyone goes for. Also, not all of the above would have to be looted as complete items. Some could be looted as limited use schematics, and allow the AS to tweak the stats a little bit depending on experimentation. So, anyone care to comment on this idea?

Those are a lot of good Ideas. There is another post of some possible enhancers that could be put in. There's alot of potential to remove the "cloning" that is going on underneath the appearance, but we just need the devs to finish what they started and put it into the game!

I like the ideas. One issue...your Spatial Scanner says it won't detect Jedi. For the ranger revamp, it was stated that Jedi Cloak is a mind trick so it can't fool a machine. The new Ranger motion detectors will be able to reveal cloaked Jedi (i believe the motion detector is a trap you set). Therefore, the Spatial Scanner would be able to detect them also.

Yeah, I thought about that, but with the Ranger stuff, its the trap that sees them, not the ranger themself. For the "Spatial Scanner", I was imagining something like a little radar screen on your wristband, or inside your helmets visor, or something like the motion detectors in the movie Aliens. (Not that any of that stuff would actually be seen in the game.) The point being, that while the device would do the actual detectecting, theplayer's character would still be assumed to be the onelooking at thedevice's readout, and thus he would still be suseptible to Jedi mind tricks. That being said, the arguement could go either way. Mainly, the reason I put the exception for Jedi cloak in the list is because I didn't want to risk this thread devloving into a Jedi vs BH flamefest, especially with Jedi already being on edge because of the upcoming cloak nerf.
