This is just a thought, but having an alt that is master tailor/ master armorsmith I feel they both lack a bit. I enjoy the crafting, but I think they both are lacking.

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but what if MT and MA were able to salvage AA/CAs from clothing and armor. And/or modify them like the shipwrights do with ship components.

Now I know there will be a good number of people against this, because of the profit side of getting the loot. That is why I think there needs to be a minor negative side to the salvaging/modifying.

For example, you have a AA in a chestplate that have pistol speed +10 and range defense +8. When you have an AS salvage the AA from it, it will lose 1 point off of each stat. The same goes for CAs.

Now when modifying a AA/CA . For example, You have a CA pistol accuracy +10 dancing enhancement +5 droid tracking +7. And you want to modify that CA with the second CA which is pistol accuracy +14 and melee speed +7. The first thing you have to consider is: You need to account for the total going in. You can only add the amount up to what is going to be removed from the tape. Basically between the two tapes you will lose dancing enhancement +5, droid tracking +7, and the melee speed +7. You will also lose the +2 of the pistol accuracy. But in the end have a CA using only one socket that is +22 pistol accuracy.

This is where it can and should still be profitable for a loot hunter. Eventually those AA/CAs will lose the higher bonuses from salvage/modifying and need to be upgraded/replaced. May not be as fast, but you can also get far higher prices for a well modified AA/CA.

I think this will also bring a bonus to being a master tailor and a master armorsmith. If this has been thought of and discussed before please just ignore it and let it die.

I will probably be making corrections to this as I am sure I wrote something backwards, but I wanted to get it typed before I lost any of the idea. I am sure I will hear it from both sides on this, but I wanted to see what people thought of this, and get feedback from both sides.

Not bad on the surface. There would have to be serious testing for balance issues on this as well, but if they do find that it isn't to unbalancing, I think this is a great idea.

I like it, except for the fact that for me, personally, it will probably be quicker for me to loot another CA/AA than to find a MT/MAs who is online and willing to salvage. Kind of like finding a musician--I've practically given up on the new architect enhancement because finding an ATK musician is impossible for me 99% of the time.

How about MT/MAS being able to split SEAs? Nah, the devs would never go for it.

What I'd like to see is us being able to do something with blank AA/CAs. Remember the "Loot Revamp"? What a major disappointment! It would have been so cool if there was some lootable item from high-end critters or NPCs that could be used as components in making new SEAs, using the components and a blank SEA.

I hope I left the idea open ended enough for changes. I still get AA/CAs with mods that no longer work in the game or that have been removed. If something like this were to allow you to just remove mods from tapes I think that would be great. Just being able to split a tape to get the one mod you want would work for me. It would make it far easier to get your +25 bonuses with out having to mix so many different tapes.

Yea I know the way that I have it set up now is a bit unbalanced, but I wanted to get the idea out there for people to see it. That way with other input it might be usable.

I would just like there to be a way to remove mod that are not useful to the user. Free up the sockets that will not benefit the user of the tape.

I think you have a very good idea here.

However, I personally wouldn't want to be bothered by this every single day. I have too much hand crafting to do. LOL

Besides, trying to explain this to someone could become a nightmare...

Oooh, great point. It's hard enough as it is. I had a heck of a time explaining last to a customer why she couldn't wear armor (TKM, Dancer). This would get out of control!

Yes. The +7 general melee speed combined with the +5 battle fatigue healing(dancing) mod is beyond ridiculous.
