with the changes to the ranger profession coming and theyw ill be certed for recon armor (wich in my opinion dosent really fit their job when it comes to absorb damage). I started to think of a armor revamp.. might sound strange put it would be in this way: the armor would stillb e in the three classes recon, battle and assault. allthough the way they give protection should be altered. Recon armor should be rather light and therefore notgive any huge ammount of hindrance tomovement, accuracy and rate of fire so , on the other hand it wouldnt be as strong as a set of assault armor. Battle armor would be rather medium, offering medium protection and medium hindrance. Assault armor would be the heaviest armor, offering much protection but is very bulky and makes u slow and lumbersome. Allthough the protection of the armors could be altered still so a set of good crafted recon armor could be as good in protetion as a not that good crafted suit of battle armor. When examining the armors it would show the usual but in the description text it would show some more. under the description text it would add: Recon armor is a light armor and does not hinder the weares movement very much (for recon), battle armor is of medium weight and has medium hinderance for the wearer. (for battle), Assault armor is hevy and bulky and has large hinderance for the wearer (for assault armor)
so. what do u think about it? please leave feedback (and plz no IT SUX or other non-contsructive "feedback")

Sounds pretty much like the last armor system we had. You could wear mabari that would stop 60 percent of damage (kinetic, anyway) or ubese that would stop 85 percent of kinetic (and about 60 percent of a few other damage types) or composite that could stop 90 percent of just about all the damage you took. Trouble is no one could wear composite that good without a doctor buff because the encumbrance was too high. But then we got those buffs and few people wore anything but composite.
Sounds like you're proposing a watered-down version of the same thing. While I think the implementation of hindrances is a bit squirrely, I've got no problem with the level of protection armor provides. I also think your proposal, while certainly doable, would be very hard to balance.

I agree with Pyke. People aren't really that varied in what they want. Pre-cu, that led to the composite clones. Now, the appearances of the armor have changed, but the wants are still the same. Honestly, the armor does have a system in it to get lower hinderences at the cost of lower resists, the are the basic and standard cores, but nobody wants them. That will lead us right back to the "clone" look we had before.
I also agree, balance will be an issue like before.

hmm... i didnt mean encumbrance to stats really.. just higher hindrance (and the hindrance did not exist pre-CU) and the certs for armor in different professions would still be there.

I do like this idea. It could be very hard to balance, but it's definately what I thought they were originally going to do with armor.
Pre CU the hinderances would be avoided with buffs, plus they were hinderances to HAM, not to movement, accuacy and speed. Right now, hardly anyone uses basic or standard cores since you can negate the hinderances of advanced cores rather quickly with a few good grinding sessions. It would be nice to see armor that had higher resists have an actual movement, speed, and accuracy penalty.

actually, the devs retracted that, and said they are keeping rangers at battle armor, which still makes no sense to me, cause rangers get the cert for mandalorian armor, yet they can't wear assault.....

Give crafters certs and enough hiderance mitigation to wear standard core armor. That would be better use for the lower end cores.
