Thread: +11 Clothing Experimentation Tape
Make some non-experimented armor padding, with a 1% base, vs a full experimented on piece, and get 4% base. Yes, it does make a difference. If you have enough points, you also lower the base of the padding, which lowers the encum a little. Makes for an important deal with stun armor, etc.
Even if you didnt think an extra 1-2% base was important, and not reason enough to go from 100 to 120 points, then..take it this way.
In order to go to 100points, you need to master. With the extra +20, I can drop all the extra tailoring, the 1st and 3rd lines, and one of the 2nd, and use the points otherwise and still have as many exp points as a master.
Yes, it does make a difference. To my customers. They like even a slightly little better base, especially after you slice it. To anyone who says it doesn't, then lower your base on your composite by 3-4%, and put your vendor next to some one who does work hard and care and gets that extra base (with the same encum and special resists), and see whose armor sells faster.
No, it does NOT make a difference in base. Base is easy to max out in 10 points. If you get an amazing, or use port, you'll have extra to drop ham by a point. The ham on the pillows is already very low, so the extra 2 points won't help you much. I have yet to make back the cash I spent on my tapes, and I only paid 50k per point.

When a 12 point tailorexperiments on thisand they max on 4% at 8 or 9 points, you can drop encumbrance effectively with the remaining 3-4 pts. Wookiee armor can get very heavy so this can help ever so slightly. 3-4% increase in protection, with reduced HAM cost on the armor with our regen, it can be noticable.
The problemI find is finding a tailor that understands experimenting effectively.
Absolutely correct. A tailor won't bother with this. And they can not make a living off schematic making. But to make 10k in only 2 mins of work, sounds pretty good to me. I have had several Master Tailors tell me they have never experimented on anything and don't know how. Or when they tell me I am mistaken, that they can not experiemnt on the item.
Back to the point, 4% helps, not needed, but being a wookiee AS, I will settle forno less.

I for one dont want to do the bloody RFPs Synth and all that either, easier to just call up one of the suppliers and get em fast,
The best thing about making them yourself though is that they will be in the output hopper of a factory and therefor really not take up storage space.
Ive actually been thinking of letting one of my suppliers have admin on one or two of my factories so they can just swing by when I need synth or RFPs.
Then Ill buy the product for their normal price, for her doing the service.
I have other things to do ingame than to load up factories all the time so it would make me a very happy man if she is willing to do it this way :-)
and if I ever start making wookie this would ne great also :-)

Any master tailor at least will have the experimentation points to get the wookiee pillows up to 4% without any skilltapes at all as long as the resources are good enough to support 4%. The other points usually go into encumberance which is a nice bonus (especially for a wookiee TKA) but isn't necessary. Anyway, if an armorsmith has a good relationship with a tailor and it is *really* important for them to have 12 points, the best thing to do is to get them some skilltapes to use since it is a lot more benefit to the armorsmith than the tailor. Personally, I don't think it is worthwhile for either, though. The only reason why I have clothing experimentation tapes to use is that I collected them when they did absolutely nothing and were being given away or dumped on the bazaar for close to nothing.

The main problem with the clothing experimentation tapes is that they can only be used for that one item. Most armorsmiths don't want to buy wookiee pillows. Any decent armorsmith has some of the best resources on their server and just want a schematic using *their* resources. In my experience, most armorsmiths balk at a price of even 10K per schematic (after all, I am not using *my* resources). If I am very very lucky and I can buy +20 clothing experimentation at 50K-100K per point, this means I have to make 100-200 schematics at a price that no one really wants to pay in order to simply break even. Since generally 1000 "pillows" are made at a time per schematic, they simply aren't popular enough to make it worthwhile. If a tailor spend money to buy clothing experimentation tapes, they will almost certainly lose money on it.
